I know this bullshit comes from vanilla, but I am posting here because Paradox has been told numerous times for years and they don't give a shit to fix it. I actually have more trust on the HIP mod team.
The suggestion is simple. Disband the adventurer event troops after he is succesful. Wether this is done immediately after the end of the war or after a year to prevent him having 0 troops and getting destroyed, I don't care.
I have been playing a lot of CK2 since the last HIP release and I was having an awesome campaign. I began with my favourite start, the duke of Castile 867. I declared independance, created the kingdom of Castile and reconquered Toledo. The remains of Asturias got their shit together after my independance (this is rare), formed Leon an reconquered everything from Portucale to Lisbon. Navarra got Zaragoza and was fighting for Teruel. The German HRE and England formed too. To sum up, this was my dream campaign. Iberian kingodms grew in size, so there was a quite interesting political game instead of just mindless holy-warmongering to form Spain, and with England and the HRE the world didn't look a mess and late campaign options looked thrilling.
And then it happened. A landless adventurer with no claims to anything from "Idontknowwhere" in Germany launched an invasion on Al-Andalus. Suddenly the Reconquista was over in the gameyst possible way because now that asshole sat his fat ass in Cordoba with 10k event troops. The Reconquista fun is over, and all his vassals (who don't hate him that much anyway) can in no way dream of rebelling. To add insult to injury he immediately started to take the north of Africa. I read somewhere that those event troops last until character death (not sure about this anyway), but he was 26 and with 30 intrigue. 0% plot power against him and somehow nobody from his muslim kingdom wanted to join.
As soon as I saw this I quitted, deleted the save, and shut the game. I don't think I will be playing for a long time after seeing how the game destroyed my most fun campaign in years.
