Or an entirely different sub-forum together, so that bug reports don't get pushed all the way down to page 934, where nobody ever sees them.
Yeah, if this were pushed as the standard, I anticipate the bug reports forum will quickly become irrelevant and useless to the developers as suggestions overrun actual bug reports.
Yes.
Well, that's the way it is. Internally we use the same tool to log bugs and enhancement requests, and that's the way it's been with any software project I've ever been involved in over 30+ years in the business.
We would expect any such request to be at least as carefully described and backed-up as a bug report.
You use a
forum to make and track bug reports internally? That sounds horribly inefficient, but it perfectly explains why Paradox games are so horrifically buggy. You should have your producers look into some tracking software - even with a small team, it makes a huge difference.
It also concerns me that we're expected to post in 'bug reports' in order to get "anyone official's attention." If Paradox isn't reading any of their forums except for bug reports, then why are we posting anywhere but there? Especially when I know the developers do read threads in general and comment on suggestion/feedback posts. You might want to avoid giving the impression that Paradox doesn't read or care about feedback in general discussion, or you're simply going to drive posts to the 'new' place you claim the devs are paying attention to.
I've been in the games industry for almost 20 years, and most developers understand their fans enough and the fickle nature of their requests to want to keep actual, factual bug reports from hypothetical suggestions, regardless of how good or well written they are. The few times I've seen companies direct fans to the bug forums for suggestions, they quickly reverse course when they realize they've opened the floodgates and transformed their bug reports forum into 'general discussion part 2'.
But if this is Paradox's official policy, then 1) Good luck enforcing it and 2) Good luck with the fallout and cleanup! It will certainly be entertaining for those of us watching.
