Not true at all. You can already "claim false glory" by using a mod or just playing with history files. I can start Albania with every province if I really want. The fact that someone could fake an accomplishment by renaming themselves chimu or Albania etc. is no reason to leave an awesome feature out.

Or using the console, that one's way easier

I was just thinking, they could do away with the decisions to form nations and make it that you decide when to form the nation.

So like at game start you could choose the provinces you need, name, flag, culture, colour, ruler dynasty etc. and you could make more than one. Maybe some kind of template with X nations in it, load it for your game start and those are the ones you can form or something.

The AI would follow the normal form nation decisions though, although I'm sure Wiz could code the AI to use them :p

I was just thinking, they could do away with the decisions to form nations and make it that you decide when to form the nation.

If we did that, it shouldn't be possible to have any reward for creating a custom country, except maybe if there were a requirement left. For example, if I'm a TPM and would set to myself the goal to form a nation with 30 provinces, maybe I could have a kind of reward. But a system like that could easily be gamey.

IMHO, the OP idea seems to be able to, as in CK2, change the name of our country at will without any reward nor malus. It would be a cosmetic DLC (if it were a DLC, but I think this is exaclty the kind of thing that should be sold as a paid DLC). Changing the NI has a direct impact on the game, so maybe it could be in an in-game editor (which would of course be non-ironman).

One thing which could be interesting as well would be to have the option to rename other countries than our own. Sure there would be many France renamed BBB and Ottoderp on the maps, but it would allow us to see the world as if it were by our point of view.

Being capable of freely altering a nation's name and colours would be great to have especially in Ironman as otherwise you can always just do it yourself as annoying it will be.

Lost track of how many times I didn't form a country because of the subsequent change of either.

Then people might abuse this like, they could make a gigantic Ottoman empire, colour it red, and call it Albania, then get a lot of glory for something not quite as impressive as a real enormous albania!

Perhaps limiting it to not being allowed to name a country after one already in game? So that you actually have to conquer all that stuff as Albania, or you have to actually FORM Romania, etc.

And also disallow spaces at the end or beginning, so that they won't hide "Albania " like this or " Albania".

I think this reason is probably why Paradox has not added this feature. People could claim false glory

Type in "cheat engine eu4" in google... real difficult to cheat.

An idea! Add a button in the revolt menu, "Reform", which is a reverse rebel flag of separatists. It will mean that you, as a leader, organize a full reform of government, complete with changing politics, religion, etc. But, it requires decent diplo-tech. Let us say... 16.

Some will not like it, depending on your legitimacy/republican tradition/tolerance of true faith (for theocracies), your revolt risk and accepted cultures. If you have ideal stats, and don't leave your religion/government/culture, you will just take a minor penalty for doing so. Also, you will place it on cooldown until the next ruler's death comes by doing so.

But, changing your religion/government/culture causes revolts of zealots/reactionists/nationalists depending on your former difference of tolerances of religion/(legitimacy/repub. tradition/tolerance of true faith)/level of your new culture's dominance over your old ones.

Before you say anything, you suffer only -1 stability penalty from attempting to change these parameters in their groups (i.e. christian religion group, finno-ugric culture, monarchied, republics), and -2 stability penalty if out of their groups.

This will require monarch power, again, depending on switch. Always administrative. It requires 50 ADM for cosmetic changes, 50 ADM more for each non-cosmetic change, double for leaving groups.
