Suggestion about connections between stars

I think in a Let's Play I saw that the connections between stars are so that you cannot go from one star to any other star but that you have to over "streets" between stars, which means you can't go from star A to star C but you have to go from A to B to C. As I said, I am not sure if this is actually the case, but if it is, I would very much like it to be programmed so, that you can march freely, or at least to every star that is in a certain range of your system. Otherwise the first review of this game will say "Great game, but the system that you can't just go to every star you want really annoyed me all the time and it made it much worse than it could be." So: please change that if it is the case.

If you don't want to be restricted to hyperlanes, then just use warp travel rather than hyperdrive. Heck, wormholes will offer a lot of freedom too. If it bothers you, just use a different travel method.

I think it boils down to the different transportation types. I think they are using Hyperlanes in the Stream. I maybe wrong.
Quill18 used hyperlanes in his little demo video with the Cat Confederacy, but I believe everyone else (including the long Blorg streams) uses warp.

The reason why the warp ships end up going from A to B to C instead of A to C is a distance limit. You can only go so far through 'empty' (no star/planet/asteroids) before having to 'recharge' the warp engine.

In one of the later streams, they were able to cut across an arm of the galaxy because they researched better warp tech.
