I'm playing AGCEEP 1.50, having played vanilla until relatively recently. I guess I'm an "average" player, and have mainly so far played as England, in both forms of the game.

But now I fancy something different...

So, please suggest me a country for a GC in AGCEEP which will give me a different challenge - one-province German minor? Poland? Lithhuania? Savoy?

The choice is yours...

Brandenburg and Savoi are sure fun to play. But if you want to see a real change compared to the games you know from Vanilla, I suggest playing a country with lots of events. The Ottomans, Dauphine (will become France), or other majors like that come to mind.
Another favorite of mine is Brabant: You have both Dutch and French culture and can turn into the Netherlands while keeping both cultures. That gives you lots of opportunities: You can focus on the European continent or become a colonial empire, or a mixture of both.

Based on your experience and played nations, I would say the Ottomans. They're acquire a different playing style than England and they're never boring. A lot of events, good leaders, multi-religion wars, and even colonization.

I agree, OE are an excellent choice for a fun game.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Ottomans it is, then - should be very different from the western european type game I'm used to. I shall start a new game this morning - I'll let you know how I get on

Keep the suggestions coming though - its always interesting to see new perspectives.

What about an African country, it would certainly be a different game!
Xhosa or Zimbabwe maybe?

Also, if you want to stay in a familiar area, France and Austria both have the megapower capability (like England) but gain it on the land rather than at sea (although France is really a jack-of-all-trades and does have limited colonial ability).

I intend to do this in my next game. :)

This sort of thing will be excellent in EUIII as well; forcing a personal union with England and reclaiming it for the Nordic Empire™!

Can't wait...
