I know, this is pure cosmetics. But I've always found it kinda odd the mini-map shows the whole world since the beginning of the game. If we don't know about the Americas, the mini-map should reflect that.

There was a mini-mod for EU3 a long long time ago that made the mini-map show only what you know of the world and I always felt it made the game far more immersive. Also, it proves it shouldn't be that hard to code.

Thoughts anyone?

I agree that it'd make it more immersive, since then you couldn't just scroll around to continents unknown, but I'll add that it might add a tiny strategical angle to it, too. Unless you had Paradox's map projection memorized to the centimeter, without a map you couldn't just scroll to the tip of Brazil and send an Explorer there, and would rather have to actually "explore". Sure, it wouldn't last long since the continents don't usually drift around, but hey - it would make exploring a little less straight-forward.

I was about to say maybe their engine can't handle it (since they always ignore this thread, It's been posted a lot) but since someone made a mini-mod for it, should be possible.

+1, I really miss that from EU2, it made exploring of the map much more fun

I want to give this a +1 but give it a +0.5 for the following reason:

We all know what the world looks like

Maybe if we play it slightly drunk, those shapes might seem a bit more uncertain and make it more immersive. =P

Ps. great idea!

+1 for both ideas :D

But more seriously-such feature is cosmetic for vanilla, but for mods using alternate maps it'd be certainly interesting!
