I find this provincial modifier very annoying because it's permanent and doesn't disappear when conquered, not even when converted to Christianity. This +0.1 local autonomy means forever 100% autonomy for ordinary countries. And if the province has been conquered by another AI before, then very probably you can't increase autonomy to reduce its unrest because the original autonomy is already above 75%.
It is only logical that those shrines be removed when converted, and also there should be an option to tear them down, even at the cost of arousing unrest.

Gotta agree though. Something like the destruction of the South American temple popping up as an event after conquering the province would be good.
Didn't even know they stayed forever.

Isn't there an event which removes them, and gives some good stuff (monarch power?)? I could be mixing it with something else, as I haven't been playing on post 1.23 patches lately.
