Sorry if this doesn’t warrant its own thread, if there is somewhere else to post this please let me know and I will happily move/delete/repost wherever.

So I’m the king of Ireland. I was married to the Duchess of Gwynedd. We had a son who is the heir to Ireland, but not Gwynedd. I couldn’t quite figure this part out, but I wasn’t too worried about it, since Wales was part of England and I had to wait for a civil war to do anything with it anyway.

Now, here is the strange part. The king of England had me excommunicated and then declared war on me. I surrendered with a war score of around -50. One of the conditions of surrender was that the king of England abdicate the throne to my son. So now, my son is the king of England and Wales and the heir to the kingdom of Ireland.

I don’t have a save of before or during the war – but I have an autosave I can upload somewhere? The uploader won't let me upload save games.

I’m having a hard time figuring out how this could happen. I loaded the game as him and Wales has Agnatic-Cognatic Gavelkind succession laws. England has Agnatic Primo succession laws. So I am first in line for both Wales and England, then my second and third sons.
Has anyone seen this before? Is it explained somewhere else?
I’m playing CKII+, Legacy of Rome and Sword of Islam.

I think the heir to a foreign kingdom cannot inherit a duchy in another kingdom. I think that was changed in a recent update.

I am not sure I understand your war. You surrendered but the English King lost his crown????

I play on steam, so I'm running on the assumption that patches are applied there - is that correct?

I thought that, for some reason, "abdicates to Jon" (Jon is my ruler's name) meant that the kind of England would get my throne, but that isn't how it turned out. For whatever reason.

I am not on Steam so I am not sure how patching works. When you play the game you should check if you are at version 1.08. You should see it by the checksum after you load the game if the steam launcher does not show it.

I checked and I'm running version 1.08.

And it happened again, but just a single province this time. I can't remember which one and it was in the middle of a huge rebellion so I didn't have time to fight. Surrendered to the one that declared an excommunication war on me. He abdicated to my second (or third?) son.

Seems like these guys abdicate to my heir?
