Succession war turns into Imperialist war?

My dynasty sits on a throne of Poland, and I claimed their throne since their current ruler and heir are weak, but shortly after the start war turns into imperialistic. I thought I might have missclicked, but the second war (after breaking truce) turned into another imperialistic one.
Unfortunately, this is an Ironman game, I can't load game 20 years before, and now I have a large coalition and terrible relations with Poland and neighbors. Actually, it would take at least 50 years to recover relations and I doubt I will be anle to claim throne again anytime soon.

Ffirst war was very hard because I lost half of my manpower and around 5k gold for maintenance, second war I started shortly after will cost me another half and make me pay debts for around 30 years =)))

Both Austria and Poland on my side from the start. We were allies for 250 years, best buddies... Fought every single war together, not always successfully, but never had a total defeat. Actually this run I never lost any single war as a leader. But recently I had to DoW them to unite our families in s single Dynasty. BTW, Austria has also my dynasty )))

For the love of everything...don't use TinyPic. It's one of the most annoying image hosters out there. Also there are several Byzantium topics already. Look them up for tips about how to survive.

How did you manaage to get austria to join your wars against the ottomans? Im my current attempt they won't join any wars due to distance

• First of all check if Venice rivals Austria, then rival Venice too. Having a + dip. reputation advisor makes a start perfect.
• Start improving relations with Austria, DoW Albania day 1 and take them (some ppl suggest to vassalize for their 5/5/5/0 general).
• After taking them start fabricating claims on Ragusa.
• Royal marriage to Austria, then ally.
• Start improving relations with Poland.
• Take Ragusa and start fabricating claim on Bosnia (not Serbia by any means).
• DoW Bosnia and vassalize, inherit war with Serbia and vassalize them too.
• In between you can RM Poland and after the war is over you ally them.

1.Attach ur army on their general and win game also you get some tech discounts since they will be very much ahead of you
2.occupy albania long enough for ottomans to peace out then vassalize

But Ottomans arrive in Albania before Byzantium has an opportunity to. If they do they are in charge of siege. Am I missing something?

i dont really know how can you get in albania before the ottomans didnt try a ottoman game in 1.8 i just wanted to help explain the benefits of your 2 questions...however if ottomans get albania i dont think vassalizing them is good idea (you can do that with just blockade at least you used to before 1.8) . but yeh no point in vassalizing its game over immeadiatly unless you manage to get poland austria and hungary in alliance since now you can call them without the 60 days war penalty

If u use the cheese for the missing/removed cores,Albania doesn't start at war with the Ottos.Also i don't recommend allying Austria as Byzantium.They will never join your offensive wars against Ottos,unless they start rivaled with them.

I dunno if it's a bug or not, but in a standard start Byz doesn't have cores on Cyprus, Crete, Albania and Trebizond. Albania doesn't have war with Ottos day 1.

i think wiz said this is ONLY a bug if you um

change start date and then change back before beginning game

if you do not change start book mark at all, i think the war should still be there.
