Haha, nope. The HRE was weakened enough by the crusade that I was able to break free pretty easily, but I had no claim on the HRE and no time to get one--they've since recovered their levies to their previous terrifying level. I am now the independent Empress of Britannia.
I wasn't quite at the point where I could flip to Imperial Administration immediately (didn't have the required majesty tech and I've been sitting on council war declaration for a while--vassal limit has been problematic and I'm reluctant to consolidate my dukes too much), but I'm working on it. Perhaps in the future once I've centralized a bit more and if the HRE hits another major stumbling block? The Mongols are just coming onto the map and the Black Death hasn't happened yet.
