Reminds me of when I was 10 years old and the most gullible creature in the world; I was fiddling with the keyboard of a shut-down computer in the school's computer class, and my friends reduced me to tears by telling me I'd broken it and would have to pay 2000 euros [equivalent]. :D

Needless to say, they're not my friends anymore (for different reasons, but eh).

--In actual news, I've returned from my trip to Norway; however, I'll only be spending a few days at my good computer. So if you don't mind it, I could switch turns with Calad and play today (he hasn't been seen in ages... Has our creator forsaken his kingdom like the unclean abomination that it is? :p O Great @Calad, if ye hear this, verily do reveal thyself! For surely we shall waver in faith without thy wise counsel and guidance! (Yes, you guessed correctly: I'm actually in the loony bin and they'll take me back to solitary in a few days! :D)).

I am playing now but it will take all of tomorrow as well; I plan to re-engineer the city's entire cargo system, as per the logic described on the wiki's 'Supply Chain' page. I'm not even sure if it can be done though without some rather merciless bulldozing... One problem area is Farmington Heights, where offices have replaced the 'farming' type industries. This is a waste of good land, as the resources underneath don't exist anywhere else, while offices can be built anywhere. I'm a bif miffed as to the realism of the decision (when did you last read about offices being replaced by farmland, and not the other way around? o_O), but hey, mayors have got to be mayors, executive power and all that jazz! :D

Just posting here to tell you that a thunder-storm forced me to quit playing early last night; it's about September in my game, and I've made a few vague efforts at improving the cargo system. The terrain and existing developments make it very hard to do any sort of comprehensive overhaul; I think our city is a lost cause when it comes to an ideal cargo system, but a working one can certainly be devised, especially with the help of more traffic-adept mayors than yours truly. In any case I will most probably be able to finish my turn today; my report will take a little longer, and will be considerably less elaborate than usual.

I could probably design a good cargo network, but this week I'm camping in Hungary, Austria and such and when the next SG starts I'm going to focus on that one as I have too any difficulties caused mainly by the terrain. It looks nice, but is difficult to work with.

...Which is why you want to pick a mountain map *again*? :p (Not that it's as extreme as our current environment... I'd prefer hills to mountains though, or mountains mostly at the edges of the map, where they serve their main purpose (providing nice scenery) without their main hindrance (fracking up the entire traffic system).)

Furthest I've ever been is Swansea. I'd love to go to somewhere like Austria. Or Scandinavia. Unfortunately I live in the un-hilly un-mountainous area of the UK.

Well, on the map I've proposed I've been able to build an almost perfectly functioning traffic network for an 150k city with the use of just a few small tunnels and a limited amount of bridges (with the exception of bridges used to cross rail, water and highways).

Yes; but keep in mind that you're a traffic genius, while the rest of us... Well, not so much. :p It's better to be safe than sorry, and the best of both worlds *can* be had if we find the right map.

Here is the save, as promised (I suggest we all adopt General Gnu's naming scheme, as it's superior imo -- although for some reason the name appears fudged up outside of the actual game. Anyway it's supposed to be 'Succession Game 7.2', i.e. 7th round and 2nd player):

http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=36333971841074650818

A few quick notes (I should be long asleep by now):

-- 87,000 citizens call Heavenly Falls home (whether they want to or not), and the mayor's coffers (despite all the embezzling and other shenanigans) contain an ample $ 2.6 million; weekly (or is it monthly?) income stands at $50k, up by 100 % from the start of my turn. I accomplished this by a few tax hikes (all industrial and commercial taxes increased by 1 %), as well as the adoption of the Recreational Use policy throughout the city. There were a few religious folks who kept yapping about it, but they mellowed out quite a bit after being served some special cookies at their demonstration :)

-- I managed to connect quite a few industrial / commercial areas with cargo routes, both roads and train tracks; but a lot of work remains to be done in this area (I will post a demonstrative picture once I have the time for it)

-- The electricity budget will need to be increased by the next mayor, as I noticed some brownouts towards the very end of my turn; it seems that even when it's slightly in the green, some brownouts can occur

-- I removed most unnecessary power lines and dismantled the unused power plants of the city; we can afford to do it now, and I got tired of the blight of the constantly blinking 'not operating' signs up high in the mountains (btw I noticed that someone had built some windmills in the sea? or were they always there and I just forgot about them? anyway, we don't need any other power plants apart from our two dams; they can support us until we have at least 200k citizens (if we ever get that far))

-- I placed a Cathedral and built a few new Residential areas, and continued the effort to connect all the major areas with pedestrian walkways; the new underground walkways are a great help in this, although the graphics for them look rather terrible (someone on Reddit said they look like entrances to Egyptian tombs; I agree whole-heartedly!)

-- etc etc... I will leave the rest of the details for my report; now it's back to @Calad, if he's still among the living (we haven't heard from him in ages)

I finished my turn. It is the last one because the city has beecome too big. It's very slow, always x1 even if I select x2 or x4.

I need to warn the next one: there were a lot of hearse problems, but before I solved them a lot of cims abandoned the city, and it is slowly re-growing. I don't know how much time will it take to fill all the abandoned buildings.

It seems that Myquandro and I plan to retire from this game due to the start of the new one; I initially thought that one could easily play in two SGs at once, but especially with the more elaborate 'governing system' of the new game, I don't think this is possible without hurting either or both games. I will choose the new game as I find its concept more interesting, and ofc it's also nice to start from a clean slate on a pristine landscape. :)

So with our retirement and Calad's lack of time, we've suddenly lost three of our players... Leaving just Spockyt and ItalianGuy. Imo, it may be time to declare that life in Heavenly Falls has run its course, and look to new horizons. :) It was a fun romp while it lasted, and certainly taught me oodles of things about the game; more than any single-player session could've taught! I still aspire to make my roads look *anything* like Myquandro's, and not like the broken mess of, well, indescribable abominations that they actually are. :p So, with the lessons that we've learned here, I think it's time to carry them to a new environment. Ofc if people want to keep playing, or new players can be recruited (they'll be far easier to introduce to this game, as the rules are really simple), then by all means keep going.

FWIW, I still plan to craft my final report; but for that I will need my good computer, as I didn't take any scenic pictures this time. So expect it in a week or two probably.
@Calad: Thank you for starting this game and letting me play in it; if your schedule allows it some point and you want to participate in our new game, I'm sure a slot can be arranged (5, 6, 7 players, ehh, it's all the same). :)

EDIT: I guess I forgot all about General Gnu's existence... So, three players left. I guess that's enough to continue, especially if a player or two can be recruited.

If we decide to finish this SG and let the city continue without the excellent guidance of its mayors it might be nice to make an elaborate report about how the city developed and what it has become. I don't know if anyone has time and want to spend that time on this, but at least I would appreciate it.

My last report will be something to this effect; as his memoirs are being published (and sending dozens of officials to their doom), mayor Fulia gets interviewed for a documentary where regular people comment on his and his rival mayors' plans and their effects on their lives and the city in general. I don't know if I'll have the time to do this though, given that our new SG will be somewhat more elaborate. And there's work to do irl, etc. But I'll try to manage it in my free hours. :)

What about @Spockyt ? Will you do a last year on the city?

I also thought: "this city is finished... pity we can't use disasters to have some fun, like old simcity 4 days..."

EDIT: my favourite sport was looking for traffic jams and creating volcanoes to free the roads!
