To set up the story, I am a Duke married to a countess. My succession law is primogeniture, as is my wife's. However, while my land has my first son inheriting everything, my wife's land has my second son as the heir.

In the line of succession, it lists Jan, Anezka, and Matylda, which is my second son, followed by my two daughters. Does anyone know why my oldest son and heir to my land isn't listed?

Also, if this was working as I thought it should, with my oldest son Zdirad inhereting everything from both his parents, I'm not sure how it would work. I am an independent duke. My wife is a countess directly under a different king. I am assuming if I die first, my son inherits my land, becoming duke, then would inherit the counties of my wife. But would he still be an independent duke, or would he now be a vassal to the king?

If my wife died first, my son becomes a count under the king. If I die, then I assume he inherits my duchies, but stays under the king and not become independent. Is this correct?

Looks like her liege has High Crown Authority, which prevents titles leaving the realm. If this is the case, were her heir your first son, her county would leave her liege's realm. So he gets bumped down in the line of succession and your second son gets her county.

If her liege didn't have high crown authority you'd still be an independent duke. The game seems to treat the player slightly differently than it would everyone else in determining who is independent.
