Substituting the music files...

I realize I'm exposing my naivete here; but why doesn't Vicky want me to substitute her .mp3s? I took a bunch of tracks from EU3 and renamed them to match Vicky's music files -- so now the folder and the names of the files look exactly the same -- but then the game doesn't play any music. Does it matter that the files have different encoder settings?... Does the program "read" file info beyond the file name..?

Just to be sure you do have the music.txt file in that folder and it contains the track names, right?

Did you give them the same names, or just similar ones? If the latter, you have to add those to music.txt for them to be used.

Aha! that was it. Somehow I had deleted that file when I had moved the mp3s.

I never play with the in game music, and always have the sound effects turned off.

I'm not sure who would define 19th-century music as "classical"... The term tends to be applied roughly to Bach up to the romantics... because after that it's more or less dreck until the turn of the 20th century...

well... simpler the first time you have to launch a separate program (and adjust its separate volume); but after the tenth time you do so, that original 4-minute investment starts to look pretty good...

Well, I have internet radio running pretty much constantly whenever I'm doing something non-academic on my computer so it's not a big deal. Whatever suits you

You don't have to rename the files and such, you could just add the files and add the file names to the music.txt, and take out the songs you don't like. Works fine for me.
