Hello, I seem to be the only person who ever plays Merchant Republics and since nobody of importance could spare the time to have a look at it I have tried to fix some of the issues.

- Cultures that traditionally allow women to stand on the same grounds as men now allow women to run for elections and inherit on equal grounds as patrician families.

- Republics now may hold Acadamies without penalty. Apparently rich people are allergic to magic in the base EK.

- Cultures that allow female republicans also allow matrilineal marriage.

- Patricians and Merchant Republics may give the designated heir title to women, be wary this only works in cultures that allow equal rights for women.

Installation
It should be quite simple, download the file attached below and extract from it "EKsubmod-MerchantRepublicFixes" .zip and .mod and put them in the \Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\ folder in (typically found in "my documents").

Next Extract EKsubmod-MerchantRepublicFixes.zip.

Boot up CKII and activate EKsubmod-MerchantRepublicFixes and EK Dev

Enjoy being a patrician with an army of Amazon-Wizard Warriors.

After making some revisions I decided to make an update to the submod, nothing special but Merchant Republics can now use crown laws (e.g limited vassal wars and regulated inheritance). This is not something they can do in the base game but given some of the laws added by EK require the passing of crown laws to become available I decided to make this update to allow merchants to experience this new content.

Additionally as a response to some inquiry, NOT ALL CULTURES WILL CREATE ABSOLUTE COGNAITIC INHERITANCE, the mod does not make republics gender equal by a broad brush it draws from the variables set out in the ek succession laws as to weather the succession will be equal. Your best chances for gender equal succession are with Nedic cultures although from my experience unless the culture explicitly does not allow equal inheritance the republics should inherit on equal grounds.

Thank you for your time
and thank you to the EK Team for making such a fine mod and holding my hand when I was making this submod.

The new version of the submod is attached below
