I'm well-acquainted only with Latin, not with Greek, but doesn't "Basileia Rhomaiōn" mean, not "Roman Empire", but "Empire of the Romans"?
- Nominative singular ("[a] Roman"): Rhomaios
- Genitive plural ("of [the] Romans"): Rhomaiōn

Might be. Still:

1) I prefer "Roman Empire" for cosmetic reasons - it's shorter and more concise than "Basileia Rhomaiōn", "Byzantine Empire" or "Empire of the Romans".

2) I took inspiration from the state's official Latin name, Imperium Romanum ("Roman Empire") rather than Imperium Romanorum ("Empire of the Romans", a common name as well) so don't take my Βασιλεία Ῥωμαίων reference too seriously, it's Greek to me.

Ancient Greek may not be the best reference, seeing as it wasn't spoken during CK2's timeframe. Middle Greek would be more ideal.
