Patch 1.03 the AI finally goes after subs in the Atlantic but it seems to me to easy for them to find them. I had a Wolfpack of 6 Subs in the Atlantic and the French engaged them with their fleet. Beat me up pretty bad but the subs retreated toward the british coast. Off the coast of England the Royal Airforce kept attacking them and forced the sub fleet to retreat back and forth from the sea zone east of Ireland to the sea zone south east of ireland. There was nothing I could do to retreat the fleet he just bounced them back and forth till he killed them with his air force and these are subs I would figure GO DOWN BELOW TILL WE HIT GERMANY would have been the order but nope to easy to find subs still!

Hmm... Subs can't be made invisible for surface ships if that's what you mean. Dunno what could be done about this situation to make them harder to detect...

Ideas anyone before I log it?

Just a few thoughts that maybe might help isolate the problem:

1. remember early subs spent most time on surface. their abilities to stay down for long periods were not good [no aircon], and any damage would severely limit that ability. their effectiveness [IMHO] was that early detect methods were lousy. But once engaged, they were very vulnerable.

2. it is not clear that weather is affecting NAVAL attacks. I have seen good weather effects with TAC and STRAT. This appears to allow too easy/successful air prosecutions of naval units.

3. Are subs, when in withdrawal [and fleets in general] going back to being spotted again, or is that not being re-checked [it should]? Meaning, when in withdrawal and not actively engaged, they should need to be spotted again to be engaged. Again, not clear if this is happening.

Hope some of this might help...
