Owned CK2 for a bit over two years now and have experienced little to no problems with the game (outside of running the warhammer mod, which is a great mod but just too massive for its own good). However, around mid-May I have run into some persistent stuttering issues that have been following me around.

My specs are:
Windows 10 (64)
CPU Type
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz

Graphics Chipset
AMD Radeon (TM) R9 380 Series 17.6.2 Crimson Drivers 4096MB Memory

16 Gigs Ram

So this is what i've done so far to try and alleviate this problem:
Uninstalled Crusader Kings 2, including all subsequent files in documents and all other places. Reinstalled to no avail after integrity check.

As a subscriber to AVG i've ran a number of virus scans which came back with nothing. Ran Malware Bytes, came back with nothing.

Re-freshed windows (kept files) nothing fixed. Did a clean boot of windows (wiped the drive) nothing fixed.

Checked hardware with various (and multiple, to be sure) testing methods to see if my PC's physical health was the problem...everything came back green.

Re-seated my motherboard and ram. Nothing fixed.

Played with Windows 10 settings and features ad-nauseum trying to find the sweet spot that others have assured me is out there, with no results.

Any idea's out there?

I suspect this may have something to do with the windows 10 creators update as some people have had some problems with that as well...but its not a universal thing and is very hard to pin-point for those of us afflicted.

One last thing. Every other game I own runs absolutely fine, except this and Star Wars Old Republic, which I know are both CPU intensive.

So EU4 and Stellaris have no such problem?

Does this problem happen right from day 1 of a new game started at any date? Or only later in the game, o after playing for a while?

Mid May would be the 2.70.x patches. If you revert to 2.6.3 in teh Steam Betas tab for this game, does it still happen?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

Err, thanks for the reply Andrew but this query was aimed more at the community to see if anyone else is experiencing these issues or has an actual fix. My apologies for not mentioning that fact in the OP.

I may try the patch reversion, because I haven't done anything like that yet (although not really a solution to the problem). Everything else you've mentioned though is just going over old ground.

If no one else has had these problems then I know that my particular rig does not like the current version of CK2 and I will just wait until the next version to play again.
