I just gave Lombardy to one of my retinue captains, he got the name Komnenodoukas, what gives?

In my latest game, some Turkish lowborn, upon being granted a slice of rocky desert, happily proclaimed himself Bey Aydin I of the Theodosiopolid dynasty. What gives, indeed.
Though it's always a blast to see Sultan Sultan II. Sultan »The Sultan« of the Sultan Sultanate or such nonsense. And I recall from the EU3 Strange Screenshots thread some Genoese ruler going by »Serene Doge Prospero Imperiale«. Now that's just swag!![]()
Haha indeed! Well KomnenoDoukas sure is a swell duke of Lombardy so i wont complain to muchAnd to be fair the vast majority of names so far has been really nice, dont get why they mix in other dynasties in the name though, just for shits and giggles?
It's a real dynasty

I've seen a de Tunis spawn in Africa.Isn't it just a combined name of the Doukas and Komnenos dynasties? Used by an emperor to make it clear he belonged to both prestigious families.
It seems more logical to me that lowborns made nobles would take the dynasty name "of [holding he was given]".
