I want the expansion so badly now I can't play CSL as it is. I keep thinking of the things I would do differently if I had the new tools. Monorails, mass transit hubs and ferries especially stand out to me. I hope we can create a ferry system with canals.

I wouldn't say the new expansion is "stupid". Right now we've only seen a small glimpse of what's going to be in it so there's no need to put off building a city. At the moment, I've been working busily on my three cities I've created since I got the game. They're in different states of being bad to worse because of the learning curve. As much as I've gone and started new cities, I still go back to these.

City building, keep in mind, doesn't happen instantly. Our changes cause other things to happen in the city which are not apparent. Add in some more housing, there's an increase in population. Put a water pump in the industrial area, and oops! Now we've got a major death wave on our hands because of the sick CIMs. The water pump issue, didn't happen right away either, it takes time for the pollution to make its way through the water supply, and some time to clean up completely. In the meantime, we now have increased sickness followed by an increase in dead along with a big drop in population which takes time to recover.

Then there's building in general. Build slowly and plan carefully. As you gain experience, you'll learn what not to do and even predict an outcome due to a design you've implemented.

My hunch is that Mass Transit will drop around March 10th to coincide with 2nd anniversary of Cities Skylines launch. I certainly like what I've seen and heard so far in the teaser trailer, it does look promising. When the expansion does drop then it will be "back to basics" for a few days- building a whole new vanilla city and exploring the new features- giving modders and asset creators time to update and resolve compatibility issues. We can of course expect the usual "outrage" on forums about "broken" games from those impatient entitled snowflakes who have a tenuous grip on reality!

While it would be super awesome I seriously doubt they're ready for release the 10th - I mean that's next week! Looking at the previous DLCs we had the annoucement more than a week from release and several Word of the Week telling us more about the features.

I don't see why people were disagreeing this, as this to me is the "regular" way it seems when we do things when a new DLC or update comes out.

No one knows how "ready" the expansion is at this point. It may well be the case that Mass Transit is 99% ready and CO has managed to keep it under wraps much longer than previous dlc packs. The announcement coming so close to the 2nd anniversary date just seems to me as more than coincidental. All will be revealed soon!

I agree! The timing is definitely interesting, and March 10th is just around the corner.

The unveiling is exciting but at the same time brings in a lot of angst too.

Paradox games are like this, I guess CO really is part of the family lol

I also was thinking of starting up a new city, came to the forum to see what people were talking about, saw the expansion, and decided not to bother until it comes out. So, I am right there with you, but it's par for the course as far as Paradox games go.

Same here, I've gone back to an older project and tinkered around a bit- reluctant to start anything new until Mass Transit drops. When it does I'll start a vanilla city and work on it until mods/assets are updated for MT
