After making this post, I couldn't help to think about something close to my heart

DLC

It is no joke that DLC starts with the same letter as Devil and Death [SUB]and Denmark but shh[/SUB]
And I can sometimes get mad at the DLC that's been made, but also some of the god-less suggestions made on this board, so I want you to post all your ideas for 10/10 top quality DLC right here

It is quite hard to know what we need DLC for until we actually have the game and can see what needs to be improved. But I guess it will be some of the mandatory sprites and music packs. I also expect to see something that will add more flavour and maybe special mechanics for the countries that need it.

Don't forget alien invasions!

Seriously though, I agree that it will start with the sprites and music packs like always. However, I would like to see something akin to the Create-a-Ruler like they have in CK2 but based on your kingdom. Go for some mind boggling crazy mixtures, or, create that nation YOU always wanted to play. Something like that would be cool.

Also: you can only play as European nations. Anything else you will have to buy separate continent-packs 15-20$. If you try to move your capital to another continent you get a game over-screen that tells you you aren't allowed to play as asian/american/african nations.

Believe.

Debunked even before the DDs started. Also, it is quite nice to know you hate expansions so much. Why do you have A House Divided, by the way?

Can one truly own Vic2 without the excellent addition of A House Divided and still call themselves human? But your original point still stands. It is nonsense to say you can only play European as that is just not the case and has been stated that way since day one.

If it wasn't obvious enough, I was joking. Considering how Creative Assembly has fallen to the dark side of DLC where the only thing added to the game is unlocking factions that has been in the game since release. We should all pray and hope that Paradox doesn't become too greedy and falls into the same trap.

I think DLC is fine when it is "mini-expansions" (and I really don't know why they don't just call it that). It's evil when it's stuff that is already done but held back (0-day DLC basically).

The thing is, games are cheaper than they've ever been because their price has not gone up with inflation. Game companies can't just sell games for $100, so they have to spread things out.

I am sorry for lashing out, but your joke was a tiny bit too realistic, as many already have brought such an idea to the table.

I don't really mind those cosmetic changes. I think it's all right to sell such things as an extra, since they don't really add much to gameplay itself. I don't mind Sword of Islam either, since it actually brings something new to the table that wasn't there before, the new features for muslim dynasties.

I was very sceptical when Paradox annouced their new patch and expansion policy but looking at the CKII DLC I have to say they did a good job. Sword of Islam gave game of new dynasties to play that require a very diffrent strategy and the faction and retinue systems alone make buying Legacy of Rome worth buying. Another good thing about it is the fact that it's modular. So if you don't like the additions a DLC gives (Sunset Invasion for me) you don't have to buy it because it's required for the next DLC.

I hope Paradox will make equally good DLCs for EU4 when the time comes although I don't have a lot of ideas what those could be about. Timeline extensions and special systems/mechanics for certain countries/cultures come to my mind.

Are you trying to say you don't want a Sunset invasion dlc for this game? All kidding aside this actually a more appropriate timeframe for something like that.

I actually enjoy cosmetic dlcs because I know that most of those additions would not normally happen were it not for dlc. I would also like dlc that adds more flavor to the leaders. I'd like to see at least a portrait and a family tree, but it doesn't have to be as deep as ck2.

It's like I wrote. Everyone can decide for himself whether or not to buy a certain DLC. Some people (me included) are not willing to pay for cosemtic DLCs. If they were included in larger DLCs you would still pay for them in the end. The way Paradox chose to sell the DLCs everyone can buy the DLCs he likes without being forced buy other stuff along with it.

I predict the first DLC for EUIV will be the cat DLC. It will add an on-screen cat to the game, when you're feeling particularly maniacal, you can pet it. You can watch it frolic all over the game map.

Also, if you don't feed it enough it dies. The game keeps track of your feeding schedule even when you don't play.

Because of this innovative new feature, Paradox will require your game to be online all the time, and prevent user mods (as they could mess up the cat animations).

I predict there will be dlc for this dlc which will automatically fill the cat's bowl.

I'd actually buy that.
