I am playing the Soviets in regular difficulty but ironman mode. I am learning HOI4 by taking what I learned playing previous versions, reading some rules, and by trial and error. My current game is my 4th try, and I was doing well. But when I invaded Poland (they came to the defense of Latvia), I somehow crossed over into Reich territory as I was eliminating Polish troops. I didn't even know such a thing was possible, and I certainly wasn't trying to do so (the province was in what once was Czechoslovakia, but which had been annexed by the Reich. Just as I did so, Poland capitulated, and I was taken to the post war settlement screen. I took the usual provinces in East Poland, returning the rest to Poland (I wanted a buffer between me and the Reich). But, now, my troops (almost 40 divisions) were behind Poland and not allowed out. Poland obviously refused my request to move troops, as did the Reich. So my divisions are trapped and starving. I'm willing to accept the results when I do something stupid, but this situation was hardly my fault. Is there anything I can do to avoid starting all over again?

Not really.

Is not totally clear to me who's territory your in. Is it German?

I'm not sure you'd get the equipment back if you dismantled the divisions outside of your own territory.

Without a screenshot it is hard to picture clearly. Also even when a nation refuses to give you military access (or anything else) you can see a diplomatic score to see if you are even close to persuading them. In some situations raising your relations with them will be enough to make the difference.

You would probably have been better off to have puppeted the part of Poland that you did not want to annex.

Gamey fix for gamey problem - change template of all the trapped divisions to something you don't care about (militia, cavalry, military police division) and once they've finished changing over , disband. That way you get your equipment back - or at least the most valuable equipment. Alternatively, autosave defaults to monthly, you should have an auto save less than a month before the peace conference, so you can get your boys out of there, knowing what's about to happen.
