So my vassal declares war on the neighbouring kingdom, in fear of losing the vassal I agree to fight with the hope of picking up that 1 province I have a claim on. Years later I've taken all the core provinces of the king's demesne with only those on the other side of Europe left (why are CK's kingdoms so screwed?), I have a warscore of over 200 and can easily take the province with is worth 26. Let's try a peace deal, nope they won't give it to me, they probably have some armies defending their last two provinces. Time for an expedition, I send some troops over to the distant lands and find them stacked with armies, over 15,000. There's no way my little duchy could take them out so I fall back. I offer all sorts of peace deals, even ones where i drop my claims completely and become their vassal of about -1900 warscore value and the King still says no. I can understand his stubborness to some degree, yes he has the larger armies and many vassals to draw upon if needed but he's not doing anything. His armies are half a world away and he's just letting his provinces be controlled by me. I can't make peace so it looks like this war is going to go forever. This game has terrible peace negotiation.
Also shouldn't there be some events that allow you to usurp a claim if you hold onto the majority of the title's provinces for long enough? That King holds the Duke of Moray but I hold 2 of the 3 provinces, I went to usurp it and it cost a ridiculous 1000 prestige just for a claim on the duchy. That's a bit harse considering my duke only has 200 prestige to play with.
It seems the only real way to expand is through inheritance.
