Stuarts vs Hanoverians

whos better? (vanilla 1.08)

In my current england game, i got to the first Jacobite rising. You get revolt risk either way (not like thats a big problem at this point). I dont really care about improving relations with France. I get better stability staying with the Hanoverians. And I have no particular RP reason to go Jacobite. So I went with Hanoverians.

But Im curious, did i miss anything good (yeah, I know I could look it up in the files, but Y'all can do more than give stats, you can give strategic and historical context)

Generally, the Stuarts have better stats than the Hannoverians, especially towards the end of the game. Not sure if the small stastical increase you'd get with the Stuarts is worth the instability that it would cause.

I can't remember for sure, but it has a lot to do with religion and your future plans. Catholics get more missionaries and colonists (I think?). No reason to go Stuart if you aren't going Catholic. But if the 'pipes get ye hot, and ye find the swish o' kilts particularly manly .... well, then - no squareheaded, cabbage-eatin' puddings for us! Bonnie Prince Charlie! Burn London tae the groun' ...

Oh ... wait. Were you playing England?

In that case it doesn't matter who you go with, ya Sassenach bastards.

Yup, im playing England, and have been protestant for 180 years, even through the civil wars, restoration, etc. So no impact but roleplaying.

And Scotlands history - we took all but Lothian years ago, and finally Diploannexed Lothian just after the act of union (would have done it earlier if id known what the event was gonna do - but who can foretell history;)

So theres an end of an old song ;)

Stuarts for when you've conquered France in the HYW and stayed Catholic. Hanoverians otherwise.

According to Billy Connolly "Bonnie Prince Charlie" was named after three sheep dogs !

Last game I played as the English the Jacobite Rebellion started in Cornwall (Scotland was Independent but was also reigned over by the Hannoverians) I think that as soon as a small English Army headed that way most of his supporters deserted to the nearest pub . . .

And he will get the advantadge of getting more years of that Robert Walpole event plus some years of Pitt the Eldest's one... the ugly part of the Stuarts is Charles III, he reigns for like 20+ years, but after that, the rulers are quite nice... :)
