I am very reluctant to do this, I think Byakhiam is good but a match for both HG and Slargos at the same time... Phew.

We will prolly stay as it is, but expect divine intervention if things get too nasty for France.

Aaallright... The Porte wish to thank Pasha Ryo'ken for a very solid ruling of the Ottoman Empire (altough the loss of two provinces and hundreds of damnexpensive siege-cannons can't be said to be very good ;) ), especially bringing stability up from -3 to +3 seems rather remarkable! :)

Back to business however. In 1650 the trading licenses have to be renewed. This is true also for England, Denmark and Holland. Two options are available:

a) 10 years for 500d
b) 20 years for 950d

The price will rise in 1660, it will be 750 d for 10 years.

This is much more expensive than my license prices in M3. Maybe I should rethink....

Nice session for England (although we lost a COT, Mauritus and Aires disappeared and only Onondaga appeared to replace it). But income grew strongly and steadily (around 480 now), we got Irondekoit for Spain, Fairfax defeated Montecuoli, we built several more manufactories

Things are not perfect (english traders mastered the art of being competed out) and we got the evil and loser Charles II -damn it, he got bad stats (although I selected Lambert in the event). I hope he will die son :p

Trade 9, infra 8 (we should get infra 9 soon), not bad military techs. Nice I guess

Nice session for OE. The obligatory Heretics event of course (7th in this game...) andmore than a fair share of the inquisitions failed. But the colonisation-attempts went well and two random conversions happened :)

It is imperative that muslim-nations try to hamper the money-frenzied infidels! It is also very important to examine the goods of the infidels thoroughly, and thus a special "infidel-tax" is in place.

<OOC>One thing that has to be remembered with these licenses is that everybody must win (ie a "win-win situation" must be sought for). I.e. those that pay must be sure that they get compensation for their investment. As it is the three nations paying can be sure that Ottomans will boot out all those player-nations not paying the licenses, thus they can be sure to recollect their investment in about 1/10th of the time they are buying the license for.

So, it is necessary to first try to sense out who is willing to pay and how much. Then put the fee so high that only 2-4 are ready to pay, yet low enough that even in the worst case they still will get their investment back doubled :) When I subbed OE in M3 I set the license was 300d for 10 years, and at first it seemed only one would pay it, but eventually two payed it, and I presume they where very happy they did so :) </OOC>

Arcorelli told me about tonights gangbang, and I must say that I'm very dissapointed. From what I hear, France+Netherlands took 3 European provinces and a CoT from me. No restrain shown - and that's after 2 wars where France attacked the Habsburgs, and where the victorious Habsburgs could have destroyed France for good in both cases. But we showed restrain. And for what? To be utterly gangbanged and raped.

If that's how you wanna play, fine. Next time France screw up, it will be the last time they do anything...

Hive you should think about power relations. It is true that the Habsburgs do not raped France when they could, but they won two wars in a row -both times extremely clearly-, almost the entire NL was occupied. Austria got Hessen, Zeeland; you got Provence. Even if the Habsburgs were restrained, they were growing more powerful and, restrained or not, they were expanding continually in Europe.

And you were sure about the power of the Habsburgs. And that you were able to crush opposition if needed. You remember the prices asked for Zeeland and Provence, right? The Habsburgs suffered of hubris, quite simple.

Newsflash: The Habsburgs where in DEFENSIVE wars in both wars we won. In the first war, where France attacked and annexed my vassal, we crushed his defenses and could easily rape him. But we where lenient, and took only my vassal's province (Luxembourg) and Köln. I warned France, and said that I would take Provence next time he attacked.

He attacked again, not listening to my warnings, and I then took Provence - as promised. Why is it that France is allowed to start wars that are expensive and time consuming for us to repell, without us being allowed to punish him? How does it make us the bad guys, even when we on both occations where extremely lenient towards him?

Well I won't risk this again, so like I said: next time France is volunerable, he'll be hit so hard that we won't have to fear his constant attacks anymore.

Newsflash: Regarding power relations, who DOWs and who receives the DOW is irrelevant. You were growing in power and taking provinces from whoever opposed you. And the rest of Europe concluded that you were too powerful.

Hive said:

Newsflash: It is not about 'bad guys', is about power and threats.

Hive said:

Case in point: You are threatening a major player in european politics with extinction (or to irrelevance, for a major player this is the same). And you want that the rest of Europe do not look on you as a dangerous power? This is the kind of declaration that get the Habsburgs in problems and in isolation and you are repeating it?

IMHO, the Habsburgs have simply not mastered the art of be powerful and not worry your neighbours.
