Whenever a certain number of strike craft are present in a battle - we're talking something on the order of 200k+ combined fleet strength with a healthy number of carriers - the pathfinding on their little AI derps out enormously. The entire strike group will, instead of closing with the enemy, fly away at a right angle to my fleet. They will continue in this direction until they hit the system edge, at which point they finally turn around, or until combat is resolved and they auto-return. This has been an issue in both the current and two previous patches (noticed while fighting Fallen Empires, regular AIs, and the Prethoryns).
This, of course, makes investing in carriers a dubious proposition. Strike craft are great when they work, functioning as both point defense and DPS, but when they derp out and fly away from the battle, well ... now I just have a battleship with not much in the way of direct firepower.
I haven't a clue what could be causing this behaviour, but it is persistent, and it is greatly aggravating - especially as it seems to exclusively affect my strike craft, while the enemy craft function normally.
