Vanilla, Iron Man, Ahistorical.
Played as communist sweden (but had no impact).

Franco wins SCW and joins axis superfast (late 38).
Poland seeds Danzig.
Ger annex czh and puppet slovakia.
So in early 39 we have a super axis, and Italy will join soon.

Now, France goes for Napoleon and declares war on Belgium and Netherlands. This could be interesting!
If not for...
France does not manage to push into Belgium and looses 200k. What great strategic manouver does the AI pull of to solve this issue? It declares on Germany and dies 1 month later.

Its such a shame that the AI does this suicide war declarations...

Agreed, ive been doing a LOT of modding to try and fix this issue. Suicidal war declarations really ruin the game.

Not to mention stuff like Spain declaring on independent Phillipines and then not even trying to invade them so the war goes on forever...

Ironically the old Hoi4 AI are better to make strategic decision, and Eu4 are superb: If you more powerful (or your alliance are more powerfull) the AI not attack you. Now make suicide wars.
It can't properly decide who is more powerful in the first place.

And i didn't see HOI4 AI to be better in the past.

Oh! I know! The politicians needed something to blame their inevitable defeat on, and so they'll spin it as Germany suddenly stabbing them in the back, and just as the war in Belgium was going so awesomely great and everything, despite what the naysayers in the political opposition was saying!

See, with enough suspension of disbelief, and knowledge of how inept and irresponsible politicans can be, the AI in HoI4 is fantastic.

(On a more serious note, yes, the AI badly needs improvement.)
