Promethian in the lead is no surprise. Their Tier 1 tech is bonkers. You get a good defensive mod, plus a 15 HP zero-movement point mod heal that works on everything and clears status effects. That in early game is HUGE. Plus the ability to drop a unit anywhere on the map at level 2 is amazing. Tell me why you like yours if you would.

Not so many votes yet. But promethean and void tech are definitely the coolest scyfy tech you can get. I'll wait to see more votes though.

BTW, I'm definitely in to watch the world burn. This tech is definitely cool and useful for so many things.

I found it remarkably more difficult to pick a favorite secret tech, with 4 contenders going head to head. Must admit that I haven't played all of them to the end-game yet. Anyway, voidtech won it for me.

What's next, npc's?

Heretor, which is supposed to be one of the main selling point of Revelations is 2nd to the last. Target missed? I tried for the first time this week end and was left baffled. The damage channel has zero synergy with anything else. The shards per unit i had real trouble to keep track of. How are you supposed to do that?

Hard pick between Psynumbra, Voidtech and Xenoplague.

Psynumbra cus evil shadow demons and madness, Xenoplague cus evil virus and Zerg like mutants and finally Voidtech.

I've picked Voidetech cus I think it's cumulatively the most useful ST of all. Early unit that spams clones, so many useful tactical/strategic operations (teleport, clone unit, economy boost doctrine, revive unit, slow approaching enemy stacks and boost defense of your colonies). Plus their units are all generally very useful. And it's as sci-fi as it can get and probably is the one sitting in the strongest with the lore of the game.

Promethean is cool but somehow I enjoy it a bit less then the three above, even though I'm perfectly aware that it is a very strong ST. It's too straightforward for me, everything is about doing more damage/status effects.

Actually I enjoy all ST, probably the only reason I would rate some of them a bit less is that I didn't play them that much (Celestian for example).

And unfortunately I must agree that Heritor isn't exactly as good as the rest. I mean the ST is fine and unique but the Essence mechanic can be a bit tedious to use effectivly. The game already has many mechanics to take into account so adding another layer on top of the existing ones adds to the complexity. And yeah it feels too much aloof from the rest, but guess that's what you get with an OPTIONAL dlc content that might or might not be used in the game. So in this sense I'm ok with it.

It's definitely a hard one, they're all cool and fun techs in their own way and especially when you create a Commander very much themed for them. I do admit I've not gotten to truly test Heritor or Synthesis as much as I'd wanted to, neither has really interested me that much and Heritor seems like a tech you really specialize into with the essence mechanic and you're less free to go about however you wish as the other techs allows you too, able to focus on them more or less and focus on your faction and weapon techs instead.

I had to pick Celestian as even if I may have more fun burning the whole world, spreading a live parasitic plague, shrouding the world in darkness or just goofing about with spacetime itself, Celestian goes well with the playstyle I like which is warmongering yet willing to be diplomatic and merciful. Ofcourse it's hard not to war and conquer in a game more built for it, but´the game is also built well to usually give you some AI players who will dislike your ways or just not being fond of you allying with someone they don't see eye to eye with either.

It still rocks some cool thematic mechanics and units, and it's a cool spin to a "good specialization" but less focusing on necessarily having to be good but just the aspect of something more opposite to say Psynumbra. Equally you don't have to be evil with the latter tech either which I do love with AoE:p as opposed to AoE3's way of forcing you into a playstyle just cause the "Light magic is good and Dark magic is evil", even if I do like the fantasy trope as well and it's still fun, with sci-fi having more science and less magic it opens up for being more neutral forces.

heretor synergize very well with amazon.
amazon can take over animals, heretor can take over thinking humanoid beings. you can make new units out of every battles.

heretor first t2 unit is also a very nice way to give a unit full action points in battles. letting you do some crazy combo with one over buffed artillery t3 or t4 unit and 5 of those t2 heretor unit.

you can also revive lost units during fights which synergize quite well with assembly.

For the heriotors
You kinda need the forgotten to get some damage mods, but just playing them from time to time will give you a better understanding then every explanation.

They are so unloved cause they dont have real synergies while also arent be able to put up a whole change of your playstyle with the race you pair it with. But after some games with them I find it pretty chill to play with them.

Perhaps they are less popuplar because they don't have particularly obvious synergies, but I think that's a shame. Just adding them to any faction acts as a great force multiplier.

Syphoners giving extra turns to your best units is amazingly good no matter what faction you play.

Arcs bolstering the damage of some or ALL of your units by as much as 40%, and adding a second damage channel to boost, is equally great. Oh, and it can also heal all those linked units once per battle. (Pro tip: give it the Acolyte Incarnation and let it energy drain some support unit that won't be attacking anyway, and you'll instantly get all the essence charges you need.)

Just the ability to gather essence charges with basic ranged/melee mods will give a damage boost to many of your units and a damage penalty to those enemies you hit. No need to specialise or do much about it, it just helps.

I would rarely use large armies of Heritor units, nor would I try to focus on Entropy damage.

But sprinkling in a few of their units in each stack makes a VERY noticeable difference in how you play the game. They're one of my favourite secret techs.

Heroes with the mount and the right mods will just deal like 30-40 damage per shot, with 3 shoots available is just really funny to watch, but that takes a tiny bit of time and understanding that the pips/charges also increase the damage while also edding shield to them.

The only downside is that the last mod isnt really good cause you dont gain enough charges for it to be usefull on most units. I think it should at a 4 strengh buff to get those charges to any attacks or gain a charge of the usage of a no damage ability.

I will need to play with them some more. Seems there's more then meets the eye when it comes to them. Well I at least know their T3 unit is pretty handy.

That said I find Forgotten better. They're easier to utilize plus Eater of Dead has this unique ability that hits every enemy unit on the battlefield and it looks friggin' cool. I would probably prefer it more if they were the Secret Tech instead of Heritors but guess their general "attiitude" doesn't exactly scream "cooperation". Heritors are at least a religious cult that looks for followers while Forgotten simply look to feast on other beings...

Nox would fit Heritors nicely. "Collects energy" from others (wakfu) and has bluish hues. Or Voidtech cus he manipulates time :p
Both fit him. Heritor tech is about getting back the dead, or only mostly dead, Voidtech would fit his Xelor powers and maybe his plan :)
Noxy would be a nice commander to create :D
