Strategys for Epirus?

Heads up I am trying to play Epirus with the Invictus mod. Anyways I am having a hard time playing this nation well at all. I am trying to play historical and challenge Rome in Magna Graecia, but by the time the war goes off I only have 5k legion and 4x tiremes and my economy is going into deficit because I cant afford my military. Otherwise this meager 5k even with an elephant and Pyrrhus I dont stand a chance against all the Roman troops. Also even though I have the armies can attach to you option on, the many AI troops refuse to follow my forces around.. How do you all make Epirus competitive? Also to note I have once seen in mp an Epirus go toe to toe with a Roman player for a good bit.

Expand into Macedon and Greece before going into Magna Graecia. Korkyra you can take as feudatory, although that's not a must. Go thorugh teh first mission tree as afast as youc an, you an even skip some of the tasks.

If I wait to build up for Macedon won't Italy be owned by Rome before?

YOu don't build up macedon. You conquer some stuff, depending on what you get (pop-wise) you integrate. After that you'll have to play by eye where to conquer what, be it Italy or Greece. I have gotten the Pyrrhic Victory Achievement a few weeks ago, so it's doable.

You can do both. Different opinions will tell you to use the one over the other. Try it out a few times, there's no shame in not winning on the first time.

I used a mix a few months ago to get it. I had a core Epirus legion and some assorted levies that tagged along. When I needed extra punching power I hired merc units in Italy.

I think I flubbed my first run and won my second. As the just prior poster says, there is no shame in not winning immediately.

What is Phyrrus scripted travel plan when he gets banished? Normally he returns with like 100 gold, but I played a mp game where my friend was Syracuse and got an event to take him in and rejected it, then Phyrrus went to Macedon. But, when he returned he only had 8 gold..
