Strategy for your chosen nation

After familiarising myself with the game mechanics I am looking forward to leading the Turkish armies and returning the Ottoman empire back to her former glory.

Two ways I can see to do this is to either turn Communist or Fascist.

Communist Strategy.
Quickly attacking Greece and moving against a Fascist advance in the Balkans, Securing my Southern flank against France & the British Empire if they fall, this may possibly bring the third international to war with them. Securing the Levant & Egypt and driving the Italians out of Libya and Ethiopia is a must.

Fascist Strategy.
Again after reforming the government moving to secure Greece & helping out Italy & the Fatherland in the Balkans. The army must head south and take out the Brits & French in the Levant and secure Egypt. Helping out the Germans with Barbarossa by attacking the oil rich Caucasus. Possibly moving through Persia to attack the Raj!

I prefer the Fascist strategy.

As the leader of the Brtish Empire I will lead the english speaking world into a" new birth of freedom." Built around a Grand Fleet. Fighter command,and the BEF. Protecting the people from facists and communist tyrants. will need Americanassistance pls and lend lease,so as to free up my civilian factories for military. Build aircraft carriers battleships from day1 hope for effiency tokick in.

I'm thinking as Poland I'll try and befriend Germany, carve out some pieces of Czechoslovakia and the Scandinavian Peninsula, and help out with any wars with the Comintern.

As Emperor of Japan, there are a vast number of possibilities that are available to me.

I start with few factories and resources, so I'm going to need to get that squared away. I'll do this by attacking China. I'll probably do this near the end of 1936. If all goes right, I should have defeated China before the end of 1938.

At this point, I'll be faced with a choice: Do I create my own faction and attack the Soviets? Or do I join the Axis and expand into the oil-rich regions to my south?

If I go with the latter, I probably won't be pulled into a war with the United States, which is something I want to avoid at all costs. It shouldn't be too hard either, since the Soviets will be preoccupied with fighting Germany at the time that I attack.

The Southern Expansion option is very risky (chance of a war with the United States increases dramatically) but in some cases, I would say the rewards outweigh the risks. If I go south, I will gain access to that precious black gold and tons of rubber. I could really buff up my naval production and maybe even win against the United States; at least in the ocean anyways.

Whatever option I decide is going to be affected by in-game circumstances that I can't even begin to predict.

As France, I want to see how far I can go against Germany by using the Maginot Line and generally speaking focusing on defense. The rest of my strategy would be to stick with history and join the Allies. Basically a 'what if France had held on against Germany' scenario.

I'm leaning toward fascist Greece once I learn the ins and outs and establish a new Byzantium but with the Italian ambition for the Balkans I'm not sure how to stay in the axis

I'll probably follow historical routes in the first few games than go bonkers from there

I'll play Italy and see if I can steer her towards an allied or soviet alliance not sure which one yet.

I'm really interested in playing as the Japanese and figuring a way to beat the United States, maybe go on an offense to take their Pacific islands to destroy their supply lines, then probably a mainland invasion or blockading their west coast.

As the Soviets, build up my industry and military. Puppet Romania while taking Bessarabia in 1940 and make Yugoslavia communist to force Germany to dilute its forces if it wants to invade me. Fully conquer the Finns (to clear the threat from Leningrad). Then, smash the Germans with rolling offensives, trying to reenact the historical war plan of the Soviets with mechanized corps.

As Norway, get familiar with the weather and terrain system and try to make it hell for the invading Germans. Hopefully light infantry will work really well in the landscape and try to use mobility tactics in order to cut out supplies in a already logistical difficult country. Advantageous defenses and decisive victories through flanking.
This tactic is inspired from Carl Gustav Fleischer's military publication in the 20s.

Narrow? South Norway is bigger than you think. Especially if the country is split up in smaller regions. This was not the case in HoI2.

I doubt that Norway has enough provinces in HoI4 either.
