Good people!

As some other forum buddies has stated before, the wait for release really cant be any less painful. So thats why I wanted to ask you guys (and girls) if you have any ideas on how it could be possible to have a fun and interesting game with either one of the Scandinavian countries.

What I´m after is what country you would play, what the plan would be and so on.. I never got the HOI3 experience with any scandinavian country to work, so hopefully this time it will.

A Scandinavian Faction, the only way to win?

Become Sweden, for it has the biggest MP-pool.
Become fascist or sowjet (democratic is boring since you can't conquer the world)
Get Norway and Finland in your faction, if that does not work, conquer them swiftly.
Then help your faction leader to glory.

Alternatively, become a dictator, conquer the rest of scandinavia but remain in a neutral faction and wait, build up.
When the time is right, crush Germany or UdSSR (who ever loses currently) and take big parts of the respective country for yourself.
Attacking UK is probably always impossible due to the puny navy the nordic countries have.

Not impossible.. curious if denmark and norway would be tempted at all to join a faction With either one of the Scandinavian countries. hmm

But I do remember in Hoi3 it was impossible to play any of the Scandinavian countries
The overall manpower pool is too small. The only country you can really play as is Sweden, Germany is 99.9 percent sure to attack Denmark and Norway. And it does not matter how good you are, you cannot hold against a full on German invasion (unless you exploit game mechanics or downright cheat... or the AI just stacks 50 divisions and attacks across a strait like into Copenhagen).

Its been a while since i played HoI 3 (and especially as Norway...lol), but i remember that the best tactic i could come up with was to focus on mountain divisions and holding defensive lines in rugged terrain (Norway is quite narrow, so its easy to keep a continuous line and stay safe from getting outflanked). Since the AI is generally a moron, you might face panzer divisions, which isn't going to push you off a mountaintop anytime soon.

But attrition will wear you down eventually (well, thats what happened to me anyway) :)

Yeah, I know.. You would really need to rally all troops Sweden, Denmark, Norway (even Finland) has and put them in Copenhagen.. maybe then you would survive a little while?! ;)

You can hold Denmark in HOI3. You'll get worn down, yes, but if you plant request for reinforcements down on Copenhagen, the Allies should send reinforcements before you get completely overwhelmed. If Denmark doesn't fall, France generally doesn't either (no invasion of the low countries) so you can potentially stall the Germans until the Soviets show up and crush them.

I've no idea about Norway.

Huh, have you tried and actually succeeded as Denmark? Funny, I would have to try that out

I'm planning on playing Sweden and defend the other Nordic nations from respective superpower. Not yet sure how yet as I'm still kind of a HOI-noob.

All I know right know is that I'm going to really put a lot of effort into my air force because it feels Swedish. I want to keep the Danish Islands free from german occupation. Norway too. Also going to help Finland fight the Soviets to a stalemate. After that I'm probably going to help the allies win the war or attack communism if that's possible without getting into war with the allies.

A strong airforce may make it very hard for Germany to invade Norway and Sweden but you will probably not be able to save Denmark or Finland. A strong army would help more at those goals but may be worse in the long run then a strong airforce as Germany and Soviet union have more resources then you do and a strong airforce may be harder for Germany to deal with then a strong army.

A navy could also be useful but I don't know how much trouble it can cause for the enemies.

I'm not sure you can win.
Maybe the goal should be to not get defeated?
Let's face facts. If Germany wants Germany gets.
