So in the game we currently have rare materials and metal. What i would like to see are resources which can be influence various aspects of you economy/war effort.

So examples of the top of my head:

The large chromite ore mines in russia and turkey - which could improve your industrial efficiency.

A heavy water installation/resource in southern norway - helping to improve your research of nuclear technology

Large shipyard installation - huge dockyards/drydocks etc which influence the rate, type and quality of shipbuilding.

Chemical industry sites (think IG Farben) - which influences your chemistry research and help return injured soldiers to manpower pool.

I think the possibilities are endless here.

I suppose it could be considered similiar to hoi3 but as this is the DH i bet the devs could improve upon the basic idea in a myriad of ways. Look at what the AoD team did with there additional buildings, i would love to see this area improved upon in DH.

Couldn't this be done by making an event that fires if you control a province, giving you extra efficiency in certain areas, and also an event that fires if you don't control it anymore, removing the modifier?

Yeah but it would do what you want, and doesn't require changing the source code. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like your idea and ideally it would be coded in the engine. But the devs have limited time and have to focus their efforts. Softcoding something is usually less work than making changes to the source code, I think.

i do agree, but I think it would deserve its own code, obviosuly it wouldnt be a priority but adding new stuff no matter how large or small is always good.

I think i should have made my title strategic installations, not resources. Developing specialised areas of industry/mining and gaining/losing control over it would be so cool & above all true to the time.
