Japan is invading Australia, a century early. :D They're still uncivilized and are at war with an alliance of Russia, UK, Spain, Sweden, and some other people. Yet Japan has managed to only get Okinawa and Bonin occupied, while they have invaded Sakhalin, Australia, and the Philippines.

V2_2.png

Whether unciv, hopeless, or whatever, the AI has this fetish for invading small islands. Every time I went to war with the UK, Their Venezuelan allies would invade my Vietnamese Line Islands. Every time! I guess it is a good way for them to draw resources and cause general nuisance. China will invade small islands too, but it makes more sense (although not when their nation is 50% occupied...).

wow the usa and the csa both with kings and republican austria

I created myself a mod that:

- Unlocks all political parties and ideologies

- Causes every country to become a random government type

At the start of the game.

Don't see why this would make Haiti rich (all they have is taboco; i guess people just like to smoke in my game).

EDIT: They have the potential to have an army 8 times larger than me! (I own the whole of Scandinavia).

That actually would explain it. Haiti is likely one of the few democracies in your random setup in the Americas. With both the USA and CSA being monarchies (and untold number of other countries in the Americas being non-democratic) Haiti would get by default more immigrants (being a democracy). From my cursory look it appears ~45% of Haiti's population at that screenshot is non-Haitian, so its getting significant immigration. Also, its immigration is probably too quick for its factory upgrades (immigrants converting to craftsmen) so therefore the immigrants demote to soldiers (RGOs are likely filled).

Also, I notice militancy is rather high. This would likely allow a conservative government to pass social reforms, thereby attracting more immigrants.

That seems right. In South America the Fascist Argentina and Brazil expanded their borders (with my help) so there weren’t too many democracies in South America. Is there a way of toning down immigration (to N/S America)?

You'd need to edit the individual pop files regarding N/S America migration. Just search for America and Democracy, tweaking as necessary. Personally I have American HMs a weaker immigrant pull than a democracy to help Brazil. I also toned down the absolute factors a little to delay the massively ahistorical super industrial Chile etc.
Haven't played to 1936 yet, but the US doesnt really begin to boom until 1900+ which coincides with the Two Wars and the American Century beginning.

Yeah, tell me about it

There were tons and tons of rebellions in Turkey and Austria.

Romania was formed in 1880 I believe shortly after Austrian communists gained power.

Bosnia had it easy though. Turkey was absolutely demolished by Russia (not empire) So Bosniak rebells had an easy ride. Montenegro got another province and so did Greece but nothing spectacular like a whole Bosnia.

Slovenia and Croatia are my fault, I liberated them. Although they are both roughly half of the size as they are in reality, they both rank incredibly high in power rankings. Especially Slovenia.

You're playing PDM, so the rise of Greece, Bosnia, and Montenegro is actually probably from the Berlin Conference event chain, which requires, among a few other things, for someone to absolutely wreck Turkey, which Russia often does.

Yeah, I completely forgot to add that I play PDM mod. And yes, Russia did wreck sorry Turkey. I'm still wondering if I should finnish off Austria, since I hate communists or liberate the rest of the balkan from Turkish oppresion. German empire helped me immensely in war and also single-handedly demolished any rebellion uprising untill I got an [100% Reactionary upper house always] event. From then on I only had to fear some commies.

Also, France asked me for help against NO_NAME (with rebellion flag). It lasted a day and then there was a sudden peace and no more rebels all of a sudden. A bug perhaps?

The Hamburg is great! :) Seems like it went GP somehow, and then conquered lots of Bavarian/SGF/Austrian lands, of all places :)
