No. Consciousness was super high so I suppose what happened was that the civil war fired too early and the secessionist sentiments event didn't get to most of the states I had assigned.
It's really interesting how even today, the culture of the U.S. very much revolves around north and south. Obviously there are clear differences between NoCal and Washington, but for example, here in Peoria/Phoenix/Glendale, you will see confederate flags kinda hanging around. Which is also odd considering how many northerners come here in winter. But in the more northern states, so Washington, Wisconsin, etc, you'll see abhorrence for the Confederates and that general time of history.
Also, I hate the Seahawks.
I live in Florida, and I think it ultimately comes down to one thing:
The North sees the Confederates as slave-owning villains who needed to be stopped.
The South sees them as the fathers, sons, brothers, and husbands that didn't all come back, even if we disagree with what they did.
Several of my father's friends hang the CSA flag from their truck or front porch, and I remember asking about it as a kid because I thought much the same as many "They hang the flag, they must be racists." That's not what it's about, though. It's about honoring those who gave their lives for what they believed in, for a land they believed in, even if they didn't ultimately win. So I think that's the difference. The North simply doesn't have that same connection and so makes an easy villain out of them.
Additionally, the South felt the impact of the war a lot longer than the North did; Reconstruction, the mass emigration of black populations to the North, Jim Crow laws, the KKK, etc. I wouldn't go so far as to say the North had it easy after the ACW, but the South certainly felt its effects a lot longer and harder economically and socially.
So it's 1880, Johore somehow isn't a British protectorate and is westernized
From the same game, it's also 1880 and I don't think Germany is going to form this game
Not only is Germany getting it's ass kicked, Bavaria is also a GP.
Very Interesting Game Indeed.
The Johore one isn't all too surprising, honestly. I saw the ai retake its cores from Britain in one of my last few games, though. That was freaking screwy. Good to see the Germany formation stopped by Bavaria, though. : P
