I agree, I think it'd actually be cool to have such an event. After all, if something like Scandinavia can exist, why not the Iberian Union?
Becouse Spain is the cultural union of Iberians.

Becouse Spain is the cultural union of Iberians.

Not in the XIXth Century anymore. The long independence of Portugal and the repeated civil wars made Spain a difficult country to unify culturally. The creation of the Spanish identity was tricky, only half-achieved, and easily undone with the comings and goings of Romantic nationalism in the late XIXth.

As of the 1900's, there were several ideologies countering the Spanish claim to being the union of Iberian peoples: Maurras' Latinity (or Mediterraneanism), backed by authors and politicians like Mistral, D'Ors or Prat de la Riba; also Iberism, a bit later but also against Spanish cultural predominance, in favour of a multi-centric federal Iberia, and also the various nationalisms that shifted towards independentism in the 1920's and later.

***

That said, I do think that Spain could have become "the TAG nation for Iberian cultures" if other paths were chosen. Federalism, republicanism, even the radical cantonalism are all options that sought to de-centralise the over-centralised Spanish administration and politics as introduced by the Bourbon kings. Or else, focus much more on national stability and nation-building through education and propaganda. Why did France create a centralised cultural nation and Spain sort of didn't? Because Spain never invested much in education until the Second Republic, while France invested heavily in it (and in French, which erased all the other languages but French in three generations). Also, two world wars, but this can be modeled with some triggers calling for "defended against a war of aggression". After all, some say Spain was born in the ashes of the War against Napoleon, and baptised in Cadis by the Constitution.

Ideally, if Spain fails at solidifying that call, then other ideologies may take its place, mostly Iberism as a union tag, but also Latinity as a reactionary, nationalistic vew of Mediterranean peoples uniting against the evil of modern ways, communism and liberalism.

The Turks, once again, fall to Revolution. Of course no other groups seize on Ottoman weakness except for the Romanians.

I once saw Ukraine attack Russia/USSR, when It was fighting a civil war between Communists, Fascists, and a Reactionary government. Ukraine got independence from Poland, so it only had three provinces. Even with the civil war in Russia, Ukraine didn't stand a chance. When the civil war ended (the communists won), not only did Ukraine not give up, they added a wargoal. Your suicidally brave Romania reminded me of them.

Well, South America is sparcely populated. Most countries don't even have 1 million people. So, if you conquered South America and then a huge number of your citizens decided to move there, getting a majority of American pops isn't that hard.

Franco-Prussian war became Great war and... well that abomination. Prussia took Algeria, Sardinia (taken by France from Italy few years before) and Wallonia. Landlocked Bavaria took Morocco and Vasconia-Aragon. France also turned communist in 1888.

And from now on Oldenburg is my favourite OPM. Of course Germany formed within 10 years and annexed all of that.
