EDIT: Does anyone know why the colors are weird for my map?

You uploaded a .bmp file and Imgur does not do a good job auto-converting it. Do that in MsPaint before uploading, save as .jpeg.

Only save photo's as .jpg (and also not with paint as it will ruin the quality), save the rest as .png (so game screenshots, spreadsheets, drawings, etc).

Yeah MsPaint produces JPEGs with low quality. Though, if you use another image editing program, one that allows you to set the Jpeg quality, it's fine.

BTW, if you have images with a low amount of colours (like those world maps), .gif can do a great job producing a small file with no loss of image quality. Again, it's better to use a decent image program to manually set your options.

Though, if you want an image editing program with more enhanced features, the Gimp is free.

For format conversions something like Irfanview should be the better option. GIMP got a steep lerning curve and really bad ergonomics.
