If you don't colonise yourself, the AI makes a mess of it...

The greens are Northumberland and Portugal (thankfully Ireland got kicked out), the yellows are Spain and Castille, the reds are Brittany and Great Britain. At least France, Burgundy and Scandinavia are easy to tell apart.

I want to see Iberia!

Your wish is my command...

iberiac.jpg

(The brief story of Iberia: Castille formed Spain and held the whole peninsula except for OPMs Portugal and Galicia. Then they waged a pointless war of excommunication against France, got completely occupied and had to secede nine or ten provinces. This, in turn, brought Le Blob over the infamy limit, everyone dogpiled on them, and they had to release Arragon. Spain got (almost) all their transports destroyed in the war against France, got overrun by rebels and broke, releasing Castille and Granada.)

Its only 1447 and Ming has already collapsed. That's the earliest I've seen that happen by far. Deccan has gobbled up India. Attahuya (sp?) in south east Asia (brown) is quite strong.

The Teutonic Order is getting stronger and Stronger, even though I (Bohemia) have wrecked them once already taking Danzig. Just a few years later they annexed Potolsk, I think, who was strangely going strong for many years.

A decade before this picture was taken, Scottland was in Norway and Norway had most of Finland. Russia was a sea of moderate sized kingdoms until Hungary and Poland started playing with global politics. Hungary inherited Ukraine while Poland was fighting it, I think.

Venice is going strong, and I've been trying to keep them that way, to keep the Ottomans in check. Had quite a few wars with them, but fortunately they have little power-base in central Europe. The Byzantines are still hanging on, having conquered Candar. I don't know why the Ottomans are letting them hold on.

Iberia has been relatively stable, despite Castille conquering the peninsula at least twice. But I managed to use my alliance to Navarre to get Castile to peace out every time. Aragon is actually still pretty strong, a contender with England. Portugal is just lame, they were asking me to take all their gold and provinces after they destroyed Spain's forces and were occupying some of their land. I end the war with a gold exchange, not wanting to destabilize Iberia for good. I should probably let Aragon or Castille win so they can annoy the emerging French Juggernaut who I have not seen since IN 3.1b

Golden Horde is holding up, and regularly occupies Moscow, letting them peace out for no apparent reason.Novgorod manages to be a pain in the TO's side. I don't know how, but they managed to take Estonia and Pskov from them.

I diplo-annexed the OPM in Oberlausitz and discovered that the AI had built a level 10 fort
On the building screen I clicked on "build level 6 fort" (just to see what it would do) and the fort level dropped to 5 during the construction

eu315.png

That is because sometimes, when you get a new province, they double the fort value. It resets at some point.

Per someone's suggestion, I decided to pick up my Scandinavia game again. I've managed to enter a Grand Alliance with Great Britain (Greatly Diminished) France, Middle-Eastern Surprise Powerhouse Georgia, and The Incredible Shrinking Ukraine against the Continent-Spanning Holy Roman Empire and Poor Bullied Russia. It's resulted in a few epic wars already. Also, here's an update on Georgia's Status as a world power:
georgiashrinkingbutstil.png

Though it has lost many of its cores in Russia, Georgia has cored a good chunk of Iraq. More recently, Georgia is getting slowly dismantled by a resurgeant Persia and Russia, who acts like a bully in the East, but gets trashed by the West. Sounds about right.

This has also been the game for ridiculous Personal Unions such as Morea over Poland, Wales over France, and now, my favorite of all, The Cypriot-Imperial Union under Cyprus's Noble Republic.
hreruledbycypriotrepubl.png

Seriously, the Holy Roman Empire, which stretches from Estonia to Southern Italy and from the Balkans to the Netherlands, was ruled for a generation by the republicans from Cyprus.

And lastly, on a completely unrelated note, here is a better shot of the fate of the Enormous, Angry Papal States in Germany from my multiplayer game that I mentioned previously:
theendofmonstrouspapals.png

I tried to save them, but there's only so much one can do from afar when Austria goes on another rampage.

Protestant Morocco ended up in a PU with GB. Thankfully for GB, Morocco ended up getting beaten into little beats by Portugal later and an English noble came to the throne of GB. Now though, Morocco has mostly regained the land they had thanks to rebel problems in Portugal.

I don't know how strang these are but I've never seen this happen.

welshengland.png

Playing Austria I had absolutly nothing to do with this, I never interfered with English affairs, they just seem to have imploded. A couple of years later Ireland formed.

granadaspain.png

This I did play a part in. In a previous war I had completly destroyed the Castilian army. Revolts broke out and Granada gained independence. They then proceded to extract revenge from Castile by annexing them.

catholicgranada.png

And to head off any religious questions, Granada is Catholic. This promises to be a very interesting game.

When I first downloaded Rising Nations, I thought I'd always play it. But, I don't really like the map, and on top of that, all this happened:

Crazy trade here...

CrazyTrade.png

Castille with two weird province grabs:

WeirdCastille1.png

WeirdCastille2.png

(They later conquered Farther Pommerania, too. This is why I quit this game as Mecklenburg.)

Also, Germans seem to have strange obsession for Montenegro...

TeutonsinMontenegro.png

GermanyinMontenegro.png

But the weirdness didn't stop there when I went back to regular EUIII; look at this guy's age!

ReallyOldGuy.png

The British Isles also seem to be afflicted with a similar condition as the Germans in Rising Nations...

ScotlandinJanina.png

EnglandinJanina.png

Look at how stupid Bohemia is. They conquered eveything up to there, and which province did they take?

StupidBohemia.png

Unfortunately, they are also my closest ally...

And what a messy France...this is due to France being excommunicated, and England declaring war, followed by Burgundy, Aragon, Castille, Me (Milan) and Bohemia, Switzerland, and a bunch of other nations that never even occupied a province.

StupidBohemia.png

While it may be stupid that they didn't grab more, it certainly wasn't stupid to grab Kurland. It's part of the HRE and the Teutons aren't, so it's a free core for Bohemia. Which also means they now can immediately get started on building a Navy.
