Okay. After playing my Makassar game now for some time, I have something in Europe - no direct influence from me.

Britain's having a bit of trouble in its Phillipines colonies.

Makassar and Brunei have managed to take a piece of the pie, and most strangely a nation you don't see very often, Sulu, has appeared. Sulu doesn't exist or even have any cores in the 1399 start, which is where this game started.

Well, I'll admit it's not quite vanilla HT3. It's modded so that colonies in Africa and East Asia will revert to their native culture after a while. It's still impressive though for Sulu to appear despite having no cores instead of the provinces defecting to other Malay cultures like what happened to those others.

From a 1399 start? It's impossible for them to appear in vanilla HT3 unless they are there at the start (1450 onwards), because the provinces convert to foreign culture when colonised so nationalists can't ever spawn.

Here's a twofer:

First off, the Papal States in Northern Germany is huge. I was playing Naples in this game and booted them off the boot. They formed a huge country in north Germany until Austria cut them in half. Now, the Papal State is my ally and so when they called Austria and I to join them in an enormous war against nearly all the German Minors I admit I helped. I sent my army north to kill the tiny armies seiging Papal provinces and the Pope himself conquered as much as he could from them. So not 100% AI driven, but probably a good 75%. I'm just the Pope's guardian Angel.

2nd goodie. Take note of Brabant's Personal Union. (Austria is still huge, by the way). But that'll be the end of the Habsburgs, methinks.

Ah, I was always curious about that. So, Sulu cannot appear as a nation from a 1399 start. Same kinda thing for Sardinia-Piedmont, and others.

Ah, I was always curious about that. So, Sulu cannot appear as a nation from a 1399 start. Same kinda thing for Sardinia-Piedmont, and others.

Sardinia Piedmont can (seen it happen), because it has provinces of its culture existing, so the cores can be created by nationalist rebels.

The problem with Sulu is that all the provinces with Sulu's culture are uncolonised, and so rebels can't pop up there. When they become colonised, they change culture, meaning different rebels will pop up.

What culture does Sulu start with?

If it's Sulawesi or Malayan it could have been colonized by someone in the area and retained it's culture.

as soon as you colonize somewhere the colonies culture changes to your primary culture (which is quite funny when the entire of africa is irish). so its impossible for sulu to appear UNLESS you started the game AFTER 1459 (which i did)
