as for the ausria HRE, is it strange if i have a post retire string that has austria as HRE from about 1525 to 1750, i was playing if that has any bearing on it

...the problem is, it ISN'T a bug. It's WAD. If they Westernize (which they tend to do quite quickly) and convert to your religion, they CAN offer a RM to you. And if they become Catholic, they can become Pope. And if they buddy up with the Electorates of the HRE, they can become Emperor. That's how the game is designed.
