Now this is strange. How often do you see successful AI Byzantines?

I'm playing as Brunswich in MPM7.8 and thought I would call it a day after reaching 1500, but before closing EU3 I'd thought I would check in on the Byzantines as they are successful, I was pleasantly surprised to see the invasion of England taking place. :p. Granted I did give them some war subsidies a while back, but definitely not 3000 gold worth. I have no idea how that happened.

They would eventually peace out to regain their homeland of Thrace but cool nonetheless.

From in nomine to divine wind : Byzantium AI was known to be succesfull. Despite the fact that ottomans have superior tech and units. IMO it is mostly because ottomans are very dumb, and rarely conquer anything. Also hordes made them even worse, than they were before.

Alright, I have 2 strange things in my ongoing Brandenburg/Prussian game (loaded as Austria & Sweden respectively).

The long (still ongoing) Burgundian Reconquest of Aachen in 1503 still has not been concluded in 1623....

I'm playing Hausa and finally see what happened while I was struggling against Mali (which got LT3 20 or 30 years before me and long before vassal Songhai, I couldn't take them down earlier because when I did not have any rebels from the last slider move to fight - the worst stack, 6k particularists - alone took me no less than 14 years to clear, they stomped my army and completely drained my manpower several times before I finally got some lucky battles eventually -, I always was in a regency) and embarassingly losing wars against Kongo (of course they just had to get a new 8 MIL and 5 Shock king shortly after my troops discover and start sieging Loango - my 15k that cost me an arm and a leg but I thought would be enough, stood no chance)... Anyway:
Giant Adal, already managed to convert all but one (visible) province to Sunni and has spread Somali culture very far, they're by no doubt a lot more successful than I am. Spain formed, according to province histories, in 1482. Kazakh got a bit lost. Syria annexed Mamluks - I already met them in the mid-1400s for some reason (spread of Suakin, I think), and it was them who I met, with their name already stretching all the way. Probably did this in a revolutionary war...?

aniuby's Strange Screenshots Episode VIII : Byzantium Bamboozled by Bafflingly Betitled Buffoons

This is sort of an addendum to the last time I posted in this thread, since it's about yet more silly names I've encountered in my latest playthrough of EU3.

Döppelganger - The Untold Story of Iason Zarides of Västerbotten

One of them was a incredibly good Conquistador. The other ... was also an incredibly good Conquistador, but slightly less great. Impersonator! Pretender!

Crikey, it's Caesar! Okay, I know there's an event which lets you name your heir Caesar (or Alexander), but I don't know if it wipes out your last name as well.

Also, 'Duke Caesar' is kind of an oxymoron, isn't it?

All right, who brought these guys along. Dear Celts ... please, what the heck is wrong with your imagination?

Note how Bruce Bruce is a 9-8-8 god among men, a rather incredible feat considering his name sounds like an incredibly bad stutter. Not shown - the ever ubiquitous King Stuart Stuart.

I engaged a Swedish fleet of 3 ships, and then the much larger French fleet came to Sweden's aid. Sweden lost their fleet and took the heat for France's defeat as well. Aside from the fact that I shouldn't even have defeated the French fleet, the French ships are listed as lost. On top of that, Sweden seems to have suffered WE and prestige loss as well as gained naval tradition for ships that weren't even theirs.

With your naval superiority this is actually an excellent chance to inflict damage to Burgundy without actually invading mainland Europe, is it not?
