Well, they are probably socialist as they aren't getting their daily needs - or they are bein overtaxed. Too high tariffs will stop them getting their daily needs, as does too high tax.

At first I thought it would be this. I lowered middle class taxes back to 35% (usually I run them at 49%). No effect. I set tariffs to 0% (usually set at 20%). No effect either. Meanwhile I expanded consume good production so that after 7 years I had nearly doubled my production. Those dammed priests were still using 'Das Kapital' instead of the Bible...
By 1900 I had to demote the entire clergy.

I united Germany under the 'Liberal Empire' event. My national value changed into liberty. And stayed that way till 1920.

Can anyone explain me how the hell those priests bacame socialists and atheists?! I tried to satisfy all their needs, but this has just slowed down their militancy. After some years I had to demote all priests into clerks to avoid a full scale religious revolt in Germany. It seems that the entire clergy (protestant and catholic) joined forces aginst me and my Liberal Empire. That's a real 'Kultur Kampf'! But now I havn't any priest to calm down the masses of farmers and workers, which aren't much ahppy with a liberal government...

In this case, it means the clergymen have issues with atheism and pro-military!
