well, belgrad is mine, they were just reinforcements for my war against the byz i think....

Byakhiam said:
It's pretty logical route, when you aren't at war with Muslims and therefore can't walk through Muslim territory.

He's playing Bulgaria.

yea, but i did it before to get to those two proivinces to conquer, and they still walked through muslin territory anyways, i just think its wierd they HAD to set out to see and come right back....

Friedrich Aller said:
What country are you playing? And what is these muslims at Croatia?

Bulgaria, started as count of galaz, after a few elections moved to count of V(something) then crowned myself king of bulgaria. the muslims in croatia are part of the hammidid(sp?) whos capital is oddly enough in one province just north of jeruselam, all thier vassals are in west north africa and spain.

this was a wierd game all the way till i got my butt kicked by the hammidids who only had 10000+, while i had 50000+ but still managed to have all kinds of manpower sending wave after wave at me. germany and italy are all muslim lands, germany has moced it capital so many times i have to go through vassels to find it. it was once in brittany, then moved to croatia then back somewhere in germany. england got owned by france and norway, and spain is all muslim, looks like they swept up in this game.... i dont have it anymore, after i losted i deleted all the games, this is playing with the beta btw

In my Byzantine Empire game I have a character with 20 diplomacy because she's got two education traits. She's Chancellor. I get +6% loyalty a month. It doesn't really matter -- I conquered the world so there's no way for me to get BB short of conquering my own vassals. Since I'd then have to give out the conquered titles to new vassals thats poin less.

i tried just going to the province next to ours, but they couldnt do that, i had to click further away and apparently they just really wanted to go out sailing...

It's because one of those landlocked Croatian counties (Varazdin?) owns two of the tiny islands in the Adriatic, and therefore is coastal. Blame it on a map glitch.

It is quite normal with the succession law that is elective and the prince of Pereyaslavl son being the sole Monomakh Emperor line. That is what he is called in Russia

Vladimir Monomakh.

could have been an entirely different world if the Byz were inherited by him. He brought christianity to russia. was a great statesman. the mongols would likely fold, the il khanate would go south to egypt.

another dimension completely it would be.

o, ok, i believe thats the first time ive seen it in any of my games, but i if i dont play an orthy dynasty then i usually dont even look at russia, Pereyaslavl broke away later in the game, despite being the first in line to succesion, the byz king was 55+ and wouldnt have taken long for him to kick the bucket....

Are those event-created divisions? I know with mercenary events it just gives you another "*Whatever your capital province is* Regiment" army, it probably isn't any different with the Il-khanate's army-creation events.

When Mongols pop up, they always get one province. Mechanics-wise, it's strange, because it seems to be like conquest (I got a murdered vassal event once when they popped up in Jaik where I had a vassal count), but they aren't automatically at war with you or whosever province it was. If it were made technically as immediate conquest and immediate peace, I would have got no murdered vassal event. And it's not made after inheritance for the same reason. ;) They always pop up with two armies consisting of regiments all from that one province. When they don't seem to able to achieve much, they don't declare war, I guess. In that case, they just lose more and more gold because while they are sort of immune to attrition (I've seen them suffer some... I think), they aren't immune to cash running out. ;) Not sure if they don't disband some of those regiments, actually. I've seen them get pwned badly just after appearing. In my last game, their tech/morale/anonymous commander sucked so much that I was able to defeat their 70K armies with 30-40K ones. The bad thing is that it seems you get to suffer all attrition they are immune to. Or maybe it's just having them included in the attrition calc for you is so painful. But I think you get to suffer all of it. My 20K armies just disappeared while being in the same square with Mongols.

Also, note that defeated armies get bounced from province to province and defeated over and over again if you have your own armies there, so you can bounce the Mongols around a bit. :D

And before I took the screen I drove them right back into it. They poiached one of my Counts (Merv), and I got that particular County back. I posted the screen because my buetifal plans put me in the exact same damn place I'd started.

BTW, Veld, if you don't like Mecklenburg in Persia do not look at any other screens on this thread. My Swedish Dukes of Petra, Pressburg, and some other weird place got posted here. And for god's sake stop reading my AAR -- I've modded myself every King-title and gone over to gavelkind. The King of Zirids will re-appear in Southern Iberia, Northern Italy, and/or the Byzantine Empire. Probably not Brittany, but I might add a few provinces there to my desmene for the hell of it.

Lucius Ebrius said:

They did have attrition just after they appeared. It was under 1% a month, but before that attrition their regiments were all 15,000 string. After a save-reload the attrition stopped. Actually happened for the Golden Horde, too.

They're AI. No money-problems for them. :(

In my game their armies vary between 50,000 and 75,000. That's 200% attrition in most provinces. Add 30k of Greeks and you've got 260% attrition. So yeah, if you're in the ssame province as he Mongols on the first *poof.*

I've been using small (5k) armies so far, but the Mongols just eat 'em alive. The Il Khans lose every province they take within a few months, but they always seem to have two left. It's not like I can lift a 65k-strong army's siege.

At least the 30k armies might win a battle before dying of attrition. I'll have to try larger forces again, 30k armies lost my empoire 40% of its manpower vs. the Golden Horde; but they did eventually win.

Sounds like I'll have to mobilize a few Counts, dangit. The 180k who aren't Mongol-meat may not be enough.
