I got those dwarven armies only in this single game, but quite often.

Well, you heard about frederik up in prussia who wanted to make an army of supper giants. It seems those in southern europe want to make an army of super dwarves :D

@Uggh, are you playing as Helvetia? If not, they're kind of big...
To resolve all discussions, yes, I have been playing as Helvetia. It's a standard 1.06 game. I played it some time ago, so I'm sorry, I can't remeber more details.

Edit: I just found the complete screenshot and the final savegame (I always make a copy, just for nostalgic reasons). It's Dec. 1514 in the screenshot and I tried to play as peaceful as possible, so this explains the seven provinces. But if I look at the final savegame, which dates from 1789, it seems I got carried away with colonization and conquest later in the game. :)

Yes, I cheated for the money, but I didn't cheat for the colonists...I had moved sliders around and got a lucky "Rush of Colonists" event and just didn't click OK whenever any windows came up...so I could document how many colonists I had sent... Another odd bit is that Brandenburg is 1. still around and 2. asking Zulu for mil access

atahualpa.JPG

OK, this time I SERIOUSLY cheated...so it doesn't count, does it?

I have no screenshot, but I once saw Astrachan owning some province in Norway, presumably Trondheim. They even converted it and could keep it for a real long time, say, forever.

I think that's a part of an old bug where Astrakhan was able to revolt from some norweigan province...

dwarves are nice they fight with frightening Two-handed axes. they can break easilly your skull.

I heard about the bug, though I couldn't remember the country in question. But I think it had already been fixed in 1.06 which was (and still is) the version I was playing.
From the alliance constellations (astrakhan allied to the turks) and wars (turkish alliance vs. russian/northern allies) it wouldn't have been improbable for such a thing to happen.
In various games i have seen many different armies up to northern russia and scandinavia, e.g. Persia, Turks, Venice, Spain (ok, they are everywhere). But usually they don't succeed and die of attrition and dumbness soon. Winning and keeping the province is not so usual.
