Started in 1066 as Mathilda Di Canossa in Tuscany, married the 3rd Af Stenkil son (Swedish), and then add a couple of sons from him.
I did not want my duchies to be split between my offsprings so I declared Elective Monarchy and selected my firstborn son as heir (Mario Di Canossa).
This really upset my husband and I had a -50 opinion from him (that's weird as he was not inheriting anything!).
At game start, I also started the independence faction and after having about 72% of my liege forces, I sent him the ultimatum. I was waiting for war to begin and I received a letter from him accepting my and my followers' independence!
After taking a couple of lands from other independent dukes and a couple of wars with Sicily, I set my sight on the Swedish throne. The oldest son had already died a couple of years back and the electors voted for my husband as King of Sweden. So I assassinated my step-father and my Husband suceeded as King of Sweden. I swore fealty to my Husband and became part of Sweden.
But the problem was, that Sweden is an elective Monarchy, so my son Mario would not inherit the throne. So I set a faction to institute Progeniture Succession. I had about 70% of my husband's force and sent the Ultimatum. He refused and we went to war (that's weird because me and him were in love, with 100 relationship, also, I wanted HIS SON on the Throne and he replied 'No, I want some random duke from Sweden succeed me' lol).
So we went to war and after about 5 years, I finally won (I hoped Mathilda would not die before the end because she was like 60 years old). So now the new heir to the Swedish Throne is Mario Di Canossa.
Mathilda died and now Mario is the Duke of Tuscany, Lombardy, Spoletto, etc.
I am waiting for my father to die to inherit his throne.
I am wondering what I should do when Mario inherits? Should I stay in Firenze because it is now at tech levels 9-9-10 and the Swedish capital is still at 0-0-0? Also, I am Italian, so should I start swithcing Swedish Dukes for Italian Dukes (like my cousins/nephews/etc.)
?
