Playing Muscovy-Russia ironman game. I just forced Crimea to release Georgia in a peace deal. The odd thing is, Georgia is immediately (from day one of the peace deal) a vassal of a one province Aq Qoyunlu based in Kurdistan, who in turn is already a vassal of the Ottomans. Why did this happen?
I was hoping Georgia would be my buffer vassal to the already mega powerful Ottoman Empire...instead it seems I've gifted the Ottomans 3 more provinces including an extra gold mine and the juicy defensive mountains of Mingrelia!

I've been seeing this happen quite often now and the solution I've had is to take the provinces of the state to be released and release them as your own vassal, making it less likely someone else will just annex them later. On the downside its a fair bit of AE, but it stops you from having to deal with feeding the enemy a free vassal which appears to be some kind of bug. Perhaps they were a vassal of the Aq Qoyunlu before they were annexed, so releasing them made them it's vassal state automatically instead of having their own free nation.
