Strange GFX glitch

I've ran into a somewhat annoying glitch with the demo, namely that sometimes the game freezes and the interface panels disappear (as do the borders on the map!). This lasts for about 10 seconds, then everything goes back to normal.

Windows XP, DirectX9.0c here, so that shouldn't be causing any trouble.

Performance of EU:R Compared With EU3

It runs better than EU3, in my opinion, although I disabled antialising altogether (but I'm playing on high resolution), since it doesn't do much.

The word is that Rome will run similarly to EU: NA.

It's all about the graphics card, as you know.

...besides the problem that Paradox never made a 3D engine before EU3, which means that it isn't that great to begin with. EU3, in particular, runs much worse than its spectacularly poor graphics warrant.

On the other hand, Rome runs better AND looks better.

Not long after EU3 came out they offered the option to disable the water effects for better performance. Perhaps it should be considered for Rome as well.

After stuttering for about 30 seconds after loading the campaign, the game ran perfectly well for me at a high resolution. I turned the trees off and never looked back. I guess you could leave them on if you like.

See, I dont have a video card. I had written that it broke ( ) a while ago so I was wondering if it would work with just the 1GB of RAM my PC came with.

Can a moderator please delete this thread? Someone asked the same question about performance in a thread fairly recently.

Since this got merged with a thread about performance, it seems, I'd like to state that I was talking about glitches originally

In any case, I didn't have this issue once I disabled trees. So, if you've got it, try doing that.
