Played the demo this morning and smiled when I noticed that the general were Tagsatzung! I wonder how many officers they were?
I also wonder if it ever happened that an archbishop commanded an army in history? Think I will give it a try in EUIII. There are some really good ones to choose from

Several Archbishops did. And at least one Pope led his troops into action.

Dunno about command but a number of clergymen went a-heathen-bashing on the crusades. They weren't allowed to spill blood though, so they were armed with maces. Crushing skulls is okay, just so long as the skull doesn't bleed.

in a game as a crazy sicily i attack the papal state and fought an army lead by the pope Innocent VIII , wasnt able to kill him sadly =/

I believe several of them did. In the medieval period one (whose name escapes me at the moment) made the mistake of attacking the Sicilian Normans, and got defeated and captured for his pains. The Normans were very polite about it and made nice noises about him being an honoured guest, but of course he was really their prisoner.

The classic example in the EU3 period was Julius II (pope from 1503-1513) who was extremely bellicose. He lead an army to recapture Bologna, among other things. He was the source of my favourite papal quote:

"We'll see who has bigger balls, me or the King of France!"
