Some things about the AI , I realy fail to understand.

Ok, Here is the situation. I am playing Austria now with all of central europe under my rule (all of HRE, northern italy and a portion of eastern europe). Obviously my BB went through the ceiling and for the last 15 years I am busy fighting everyone (I chose the agressive AI at the option menu) with a fine success. (lots of fun
:D )
Now during these wars i have encountered many strange peace offers, for example:
1. I was fighting the french and they managed to take Champagne from me, I'm on the other hand managed to steal lorraine from them and i offered them a return to Status Quo- they refused repeatedly till one time they offered me Lorraine (their offer came about a week after my white peace offer) - which i accepted of course. :D
2. Same deal with P-L. I took western Prussia and Krakow from them and since I Was hard pressed on other fronts, I Offered them peace with the submission of western prussia to me. They refused twice even though i had 4 stars on the peace menu and they should accepted. However a very short time aftermy second plea for peace they offered me peace and gave me western prussia AND Krakow. Naturally I accepted.

To tell the truth I'm confused here. Should i always wait for better deals only when my enemies offer them or there was a strange coincidence here? Is the AI programmed to decline deals from me or what?

Damn with me the AI still demands 250 gold until all their armies are beaten, 3/4 of their provinces are in my hands and their captial now resembles a large bonfire...

They then decide to let us off lightly with a white peace

Nah not dead, but between computers dying, exams and *having* to change version every time a new ICG I haven't been writing any AARs or doing much at all on the forum :(

Don't worry though I have a new AAR in the works, filled with bad jokes and military incompetance :D

Ive had weird peace offers like that many times... for example today i was playing Austria, and had taken Banat from Turkey, whilst they had taken Bosnia and Croatia from me, and were sieging presburg... i sued for a white peace, they declined, and a month later with no developments whatsoever, they suddenly offer me Banat... which i took of course ;)

Simna, IGC is short for Improved Grand Campaign. Its a mod which allows you to play every nation in the game (amongst other things...)

You can find it here:

any questions, ask em here - someone will answer :)

Yes, such weird offers tend to happen quite a bit. In my games anyway. I always reject them :D No need to take advantage of the AI's stupidity, it's easy enough as it is. I like to win because I actually do it and not because of a faulty algoritm in the ai's "thinking" :D

Examples of this are when u control 2 provinces of ur enemy, or even 3 and they have none of urs. U ask for just the lone province, the one u started the war for and they refuse. A week later they offer that same province with the other or one of the others.

I chose not to exploit this :D

I agree BiB.
It is a shame that a problematic AI damage the fun, however I do try to wage diplomatic peace offers as the AI accept them quite often.

Another annoying thing about the Ai is that the coalition of the pope (the leader), spain and Burgundy (which broke from france few years earlier, and is very close to be my next meal :D :D ) DOWed me. I bribed them out of the war immediatly with 250D as i was occupied elsewhere.
Alas , a month passed and now Burgundy (with the exact coalition) now DOW on me. DUH...

The AI is human just like anyone else - it feels less bad about opting to give up provinces than being forced to :D
