I finished a war vs. the Mamelukes and took some provinces. I'd mixed up the names of Hammah and the province South of Damascus (Hawras or something?) in the peace deal, so ended up with Hammah still Mameluke, surrounded by Ottoman territory. I'd meant to take Hammah along with Damascus and Judea and leave the other province for later, rather than have an isolated Mameluke province in my territory (albeit temporarily...)

Shortly after the peace deal, I got a Colonial Conquest CB event vs. the Mamelukes - citing Hammah as the target, because it was 'close to my own colonies'. I didn't have any colonies, and Hammah wasn't a colony either. It was, however, completely surrounded by Ottoman territory.

Bug? Or just demo weirdness?

I guess Hammah is distant overseas (Cairo is in Africa, and Hammah is in Asia), so it counts as a colony.

I might be wrong, but since hammah got land locked and the mameluk capital is in africa it got colony status, requiring big ships to get tariffs from it. That's how it worked in EU3 atleast.

Edit: Ninjad :ninja:

Since their territory was disconnected from their capital and in another continent, I think it was then considered "overseas" and, thus, "colonies". Not sure why it said you had colonies yourself, however. Were your Middle-Eastern/African holdings disconnected from the capital as well? The Ottomans are in Europe, after all, so holdings in Arabia and Africa counts as 'overseas' if not directly connected to Istanbul.

No, I had no unconnected territory. Guess it is a feature of having a distinction between continents around the Egyptian border, despite there being a fairly short land connection (two Ottoman provinces intervening). Although it does seem wrong that the province is treated like this, it's probably a rare occurrence.
