Stopped getting Steam achievements during a game

Before you ask: it's an Ironman game, I'm not running any mods, and "enable Steam cloud sync..." is turned on.

I started my first game in 1.8.3(?) and started getting achievements as expected, but not too far into the game, they stopped unlocking. I can't think of anything I did that could've had that effect. After the problem started, I upgraded to 1.9 and now 1.9.1, and still no new achievements.
Here's a list of the ones that worked:
- Brave New World (Nov 2)
- Digging deep (Nov 7)
- Energetic (Nov 3)
- Power Overwhelming (Nov 7)
- Explorer (Nov 5)
- The Grand Fleet (Nov 9)
- A Home Away From Home (Nov 6)
- Break On Through (Nov 7)
- Mutual Understanding (Nov 2)
- Mad Genius (Nov 9)

Here's the ones I should have gotten, but they haven't unlocked: The industrial re-revolution, New shining star, Battle thralls, Grand admiral, Building better worlds, Domo arigato, Faster stronger better, To the other side, Supremacy, Victorious, Patron, The good stuff, Omnicultural, What came before, What was will be, Resourceful, I can see forever, Think tank

At one point, after the problem had already started, I "subscribed" to a mod (but never actually activated it).

The only seemingly solid advice I could find was to purge Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\ and My Documents\Paradox Interactive\ (I deleted everything except my save file), but those still didn't help.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

And the checksum shows as correct in both the launcher and the main game menu?


If a save game has fallen out of being achievement-worthy, there's no way to bring it back I'm afraid. If there were people could just use any save to get them!

Quite why that might have happened to this save I don't know; I believe 1.8.x saves should work under 1.9.x OK including achievements.

Did you get all those achievements under 1.8.x ? The achievements that failed, was that under 1.8.x for any of them? Or all after you went to 1.9 ?

In other words does it seem like the move to 1.9.x triggered the problem? Or it happened before or after that point?

All the achievements I successfully unlocked were while I was playing 1.8.x. However, they stopped unlocking well before 1.9 was released (and I never used any beta versions), so the version wasn't the issue.

Ah, I see, so something happened under 1.8.x so that saved game dropped out of being achievement-worthy. That explains why you didn't get them under 1.9.x either.

I'm very sorry for that glitch, whatever caused it! You didn't happen to play while offline perhaps, or have an internet outage while playing, anything like that?
