Can we stop with the negativity and complaints. This game has been in development for YEARS and we are DAYS away from its release. I for one am excited and literally cancelled a college class, scheduled vacation, and thawed out the credit card (to hide the purchase from my wife) to enjoy this game. I would have gladly paid $100 more for it (don't get any ideas @podcat) because I have anticipated it so much. All of you are complaining about DLC this and should have been included that. Who cares? Buy the dang game and play it or shut up and let us that do enjoy it.

I would also like to thank Podcat and the rest of the developers for putting up with our crap for so long. I can literally sense the change of atmosphere with the pending release and it gets me even more excited (in a none sexual way).

Totally agree, I think it's just the combination of internet and human biological tendencies though, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm definitely excited for the release, and can't wait to play the game - I expect I'll be playing it for a loooooong time!

You know that for every one of the topics full of 'negativity and complaints' there is a topic like this with people white knighting Paradox, and the game, telling us it will be good and developed for years, right?

And who cares? Not you it seems like. By your choice of wording I don;t get the feeling you are a very picky consumer. Some of us are, and are actually wondering what kind of turn Paradox' business practices is taking. I don't think it is a very absurd thing to wonder about or express. Not more absurd than you saying you will enjoy it, without ever having actually played it, and telling everybody who doesn't hold to your optimism and lack of expectations should just shut up.

Blind fanboyism like this benefits no-one.

hmmm...a little ironic that in a game about a period of time involving wide spread conflict to defeat tyranny, that you sit here and tell people what they can say. You don't have to agree with what people say, but you cross a line when you tell them not to say it.

I am not sure where he is saying you are not allowed to say it, however there are like 3 or 4 threads about the cost.

If you can not afford it then march on the streets and start a communist revolution, otherwise market forces are at play. If the price is too high Paradox will have to do something about it, if the market agrees then your complaining is not acurate as the market is telling the publisher otherwise.

Stellaris had a huge first day and I think HOI4 will have the same, so it seems to be working.

I don't know about others, being geneticially enhanced and hunting monsters tends to be very entertaining. I would suggest it to others myself, but they tend to lack the requisite genetic enhancement. I don't know what got you so annoyed with the profession, but it's a respectable one that earns an honest living, and if you cant support that you need to take a hard look at yourself and ask what makes you think it's so bad. Sure we have problems with people trying to cheat on us with their husbands because we're infertile, but that's your fault not ours. Now if you don't mind me, I have some witching to do.

.

There is also 3 or 4 threads about how this game is awesome (even though it is not released) and people telling other people to stop 'whining' You yourself are an active participant in the latter. You should recognize it goes both ways.

And again, being able to afford it or not, has NO bearing on the things that are being discussed, None, Nothing, nada. Do you really not understand this? Stop stiffing criticism with your weak fallacies.

I am just an advocate for the free market, Paradox is a business and guess what it is there to make a profit.

Everyone still has the same options as before, so really I have no idea why everyone gets bent out of shape. You personally can wait for release, look at LP or reviews and make your choice to purchase at that time. You can do the same for all the DLC's, all the sprite packs and music packs.

What has actually changed that is such a world ending event?

My point is that we all have choice, I am not taking away your choice not buy the FM version or limiting your enjoyment in anyway.

It is not a world ending event. Stop offering Ad reductio's to fit your narrative,

You are trying to counter any criticism by saying: ; don't like it, don't buy i.' or 'can't afford it? Not paradox 'fault'

Do you really no realize we are not arguing free market here? We are arguing the merits of Paradox busies model from a consumer's perspective, and the perceived value for the asked price.

NOBODY is saying Paradox can;t do what it is doing.

And yes, it is there to make profit, it does not mean you have to be the sheep and oblige them achieving that without any comment or criticism. Do you own Paradox stock? You dont have to defend Paradox's position. Yes, they are a business and they want to make money. You are a consumer, and you should expect to get you money's worth. Your interest and Paradox'are not the same. At the very least you could stop using fallacies to try and stifle criticism.

I swear man. Really.

Too many butt hurt people on this forum.

I think we can all agree the Season Pass is a shift in Paradox's marketing policy and any shift in policy is a potential for discussion, Paradox is a game company just like any other and they too make mistakes. Is this a mistake? Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not... I don't think that should exclude a discussion as long as it is civilized.

Most people here on the forums are people who like Paradox and their game, there is no malice only concern so passing such a quick judgment on them is unwise.

I swear man. Really.

I apologise, in that I didn't mean to say people shouldn't be allowed to complain, but there was a 10-page thread complaining about the price of the Field Marshall edition, when a significant proportion of that price (40 per cent or so) is likely to be for DLC that will be available for purchase at the same time for everyone - ie, lots of complaining about something that is, in effect, a choice for some that hasn't penalised others (except those rabid about art books/forum icons/general pictures with little garlands on the bottom - which I really hope this isn't all about :)).

The base price of the game, for $40, seems sound (cheap, even, relative to many of its contemporaries), the Poland content (the only content that actually affects gameplay) will be made available to everyone at no extra cost, and yet a large number of people are up in arms. I'm yet to see their position as one that can be criticised on any sound basis. By all means prove me wrong (I'm all for consumers voicing concern, and I agreed with many of the concerns over the substantial changes to buildings and development that were gated behind Common Sense, for example - which was absolutely a valid complaint), but the complaints about the pre-order pricing come across (I'm not saying they are, just that they come across as) a knee-jerk "sticker shock" reaction.
